Violet could be given a chance to live. A 12 year old peregrine, Zephyr, living wild in South Bend, Indiana
with only one foot, adequately provides for himself and his family.  If Zephyr can kill and feed himself, then Violet should be able to do the same since Violet would be hunting ground prey rather than prey on the wing.
I am so praying Violet's "good" foot can be healed so she can have a chance to live.

Birds are so amazing!!

Day 10 in paradise was spent more in Missouri. Springfield to be exact as we took a 2 hour one way trip there to visit the Bass Pro Shop. It's quite the place for the sportsman/woman. I took pics of a lot of stuffed animals but they did have some live ones including a crocodile,snakes,turtles and fish. I spotted 41 hawks going to and from there in the trees mostly but some were on telephone poles and wires and a handful in flight. Snowy Owls lead nomadic lives and travel vast distances from year to year searching for productive feeding areas. Some years, most recently in the winter of 2011/2012, conditions cause them to come south in great numbers.

Ed received a couple huge fruit baskets from some vendors at work for Christmas. Yesterday, I cut up some oranges and apples, added some peanut butter, raisins and some seed, put it in a tin and put it out for the birds. Suddenly, as I closed the door and looked out the window, there were so many birds, it was like a feeding frenzy. Didn't see a bird when I went out. They stalk....lol. It was great to watch them enjoy the fruits of Ed's labor. It was gone in about an hour and I was thinking this batch will last a  good day or 2!! NOT, so I'll do it again today. I do have a "piggy" squirrel out there too!!
