Jeeez, Carol P! Make us all feel bad, why don't you?! You could at least have put the list in taxonomic order while you were at it...

Oh, no!  Don't quit!  Like I said, I just happened to be in Montezuma for the day on Saturday.  Otherwise, I would have only had a very short list.  Just good timing.   Smiley

You know, that made me realize I haven't heard any chickadees this weekend.  They must be on their way to wherever they go for the winter...

Funny, my Chickadees come back for the Winter! Waiting for them.

Yesterday all I saw was lots of rain and fog. Heard lots of rain, too! Today I
have heard a couple of really angry blue jays several times, and this morning I
heard a cardinal. A drive to the beach would yield lots of seagulls and Canada
Geese. They're always there. I'm just not motivated to go see them! And I'm
sure a hummingbird has been at the feeder but I haven't been hanging out in the
kitchen to see him. A partly white one was hanging around a couple of weeks ago
but has moved on. Guess she was just passing through.

12672  Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Green Heron uses bait to fish on: 25-Sep-11, 07:07:05 AM
The Green Heron forages on the banks of small bodies of fresh water. Relying on its plumage for camouflage, it perches motionless—body horizonta l and stretched forward—waiting for small fish to come close. This heron may use “bait” while hunting for fish. It drops a feather, a live insect, or a twig on the water’s surface. Then it hunkers down and waits for unsuspecting prey to venture within reach. Clever heron! Watch a video of a Green Heron fishing. In this video, a heron fishes from a log.
