Jeeez, Carol P! Make us all feel bad, why don't you?! You could at least have put the list in taxonomic order while you were at it... Um, wow, I quit? Oh, no! Don't quit! Like I said, I just happened to be in Montezuma for the day on Saturday. Otherwise, I would have only had a very short list. Just good timing. LOL OK! Good job though!!

Yesterday all I saw was lots of rain and fog. Heard lots of rain, too! Today I have heard a couple of really angry blue jays several times, and this morning I heard a cardinal. A drive to the beach would yield lots of seagulls and Canada Geese. They're always there. I'm just not motivated to go see them! And I'm sure a hummingbird has been at the feeder but I haven't been hanging out in the kitchen to see him. A partly white one was hanging around a couple of weeks ago but has moved on. Guess she was just passing through.

Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Green Heron uses bait to fish
|

The Green Heron forages on the banks of small bodies of fresh water. Relying on its plumage for camouflage, it perches motionless—body horizonta l and stretched forward—waiting for small fish to come close. This heron may use “bait” while hunting for fish. It drops a feather, a live insect, or a twig on the water’s surface. Then it hunkers down and waits for unsuspecting prey to venture within reach. Clever heron! Watch a video of a Green Heron fishing. In this video, a heron fishes from a log. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNeZmwfKluQ#
