New York City Audubon volunteers who monitored the lights all night reported a peak of about 100 birds around 2 a.m., and about 700 altogether. It was a far cry from last year, when an estimated 10,000 birds were caught over the course of the night, circling in confusion until the lights were temporarily shuttered five separate times

It's another gorgeous day in Rochester, sunny with gentle breezes but I fear the winds of change are coming soon. I had to search around this morning to find a falcon and when I did I wasn't quite sure who it was. From the Andrews St. bridge which is a good...

Archer's white spot is very predominant. I don't see it in that pic on OCSR. I think it would have shown up better. Who knows. Good report and pics!

Only thought of the water angle later, but yeah... a tad more planning, methinks. Guess that Nature does what she does, huh?

Guess we will never know.

Had we known they were going to use some old rubbish glue, we could have had a "whip-around" and sent them a decent supply of whatever Quest has...

PLUS - what possessed them to release him so far from his own kind??

Simple nail polish!! Then again, Quest is not water-bound, so who knows. Couldn't they have used a "just under the skin tracker like they do sharks, whales and other mammals? Wasn't very well thought out. I'm sure they could have taken him further or all the way but it would have cost dearly. They couldn't fly him out because of disease reasons, customs, yada yada but if he was in a container on a boat why couldn't he be in a container on Jeff's plane to Antarctica? It's just sad no matter!
