!!! Toooo big - and Toooo Small!! May 15, 2011 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre Mark Nash Reports:
Captured some great shots moments ago with Tiago very confused and frustrated while he is trying to figure out how he can cover and brood his hatchlings from the fowl weather conditions today,, with high gusty winds, cold temps, and more rain!! Seconds later, RM also attended (see in the top left part of the photo) to give him some instructions and direction as to how its to be done.
Still, the hatchlings are just to big to actually cover them all at this age, so the best plan of action is to try and shelter them from the cold blowing winds and driving rain. Toronto’s weather today is terrible, with unreasonably cold damp conditions, driving rain and blustery winds!
Poor Tiago, he tried!

That's quite the nest box.
I know, siding and shingles! Very cool! Hmmm, ideas maybe? Yes, I want to do that and also install gutters and a garage door opener for the side of the box. A built-in pool and concrete pavers for the falcony with some tasteful landscaping would be nice too. Sounds great, any donors for all these improvements? I'll caulk and paint the nest box!

May 14th
It is now over a month since the first egg was laid by our female on the 13th April and here, at Loch of the Lowes, staff and volunteers continue to wait with hope to find out if the eggs are viable and any hatch. We can reasonably expect an egg to hatch in a week’s time on 20th May as this will be 37 days (the average incubation period) after the first egg was laid.
Throughout the day, our famous pair of ospreys has been incubating the three eggs. Our male, 7y, has been continuing to bring nesting material, ensuring the nest maintains the shape needed at this stage in the season. At 10.06am our male returned to the nest with a delivery of part of a fish for our female. Not only had the head been consumed, but also the majority of the fish. Our female left for over an hour to eat the fish and have a break from incubation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iqmba7npY8g# (CBS) - Normally when a black cat encounters a barn owl, one would expect the barn owl to wind up dinner or gone (if the owl is lucky). But like all things in nature there are sometimes special exceptions, and this video is definitely one of them - for your viewing pleasure, a video of black cat and barn owl playing together. The black cat is named Fum and the barn owl Gebra. Per the poster of the YouTube video "megaxibeca": "This bird of prey [flies] far away but lands everytime near Fum, its faithful friend." Awwwwww... can you say adorable overload! The Owl has jess's on it's legs. Wonder if it's being kept.
