OK... As near as we can tell C2 was not completely well formed. I noticed a lack of down. So did the PGC and several of you. It's possible that Hope knew that it would not survive. She was observed poking and shaking it before she killed it and fed it to C1. Some of you mentioned another possible intruder around 11:00. We're checking the archives, but this would be an unrelated incident.
Thank you for not PMing me and my admins while we 1. Tried to figure this out; 2. Consulted with the pros; 3. Tried to take care of our non-feathered families.
Remember - we still don't know a lot. We're learning along with you.
And a huge THANK YOU for your patience.

Raptor biologist Janie Veltkamp met Beauty in 2007. Beauty is a 14-year-old bald eagle, and back then the bird was struggling to survive. She had been illegally shot in the wild, and lost her upper beak from the trauma. Without her upper beak – which is vital to eating – she wasn’t expected to live very long.

  Love her name!!  heart heart

Awe, so happy for them. It was sad last year!!  heart

It was.  I've been so hoping things would go well for them this yr. as they've been having intruder situations too.

Now we have too many falcons, can't win!!!

Jeeze, push her off why don't ya!! Is this the intruder??  Shocked

No, VM, her mate.  He is very strange and sometimes has been known to sleep inside with her at night, from what I've read.

Oh my, he is pushy!!! I mean really!!!!  See her face????
