Is is a wonderful story! I love the picture of Kendal flying in with takeout for Quest! Too bad our own Rochester paper didn't cover the story. Quest's legacy can be traced back here...come on D and C, give Quest's story some coverage!
I agree, Margaret! Where is the local media about this great story? Hopefully it will hit the local papers soon. Maybe someone needs to inform them?

Events from the nest today: 4-17
This morning passed very peacefully here at Loch of the Lowes, 7Y took over duties on the nest at 7:30 this morning until 9:00, demonstrating his dedication as a mate once again. There was a brief flurry of action earlier this afternoon, however, with an intruder spotted over the loch at 12:59. Our resident female was very protective of the eggs; spreading herself out over them and alarm calling persistently. She remained alert and wary for some time after the intruder had left.
The last few hours have been more relaxed on the nest. Our resident female has swapped over egg duties with her mate 3 times this afternoon to cool down by flying low over the loch and dipping her talons in the water. A fantastic sight!!
Looks like dad on eggs. Lady there too.

Sorry, I was killing time moving the camera while waiting for a plane at the Niagara Falls airport when the wifi went out. I switched to 3G and thought I had moved the camera back to the nest box before turning off the phone. I must have accidentally moved it again while turning it off.
It happens, well there were people walking by!

Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Feds to ban some rat poison in June

SACRAMENTO, April 17 (UPI) -- Federal regulations will begin banning the most toxic of rat poisons, which U.S. experts say have crept up the food chain to other wildlife.
The long-lasting and highly toxic poisons intended to kill mice and rats are also killing the animals feeding on them and not just squirrels, the experts say. Animals such as bobcats, barn owls, kestrels, red-tailed hawks, kit foxes, coyotes and other predators are dying as a result of rat poison sold at big-box stores, consumer outlets and hardware stores.
"Rodenticides are the new DDT," said Maggie Sergio, director of advocacy at WildCare, a Bay Area, Calif., wildlife rehabilitation center that has responded to dozens of poisoning cases. "It is an emergency, an environmental disaster. We are killing nature's own rodent control."
Beginning in June federal regulations will ban the sale of the most toxic, long-lasting rat poisons, The Sacramento Bee reported Sunday. But some say, "Too little, too late."
"We've been collecting data forever," said Stella McMillin, an environmental scientist with the pesticide investigations unit of the California Department of Fish and Game. "They took 10 years after we knew it was a problem. It was absolutely too long."
Researchers have evidence of predator poisoning in California, New York and Canada.
"The truth is, it's not just across the state but across the country and across the world," said Seth Riley, a wildlife ecologist with the National Park Service.
About time they banned that "skinny N sweet"
