This was on the CPF site   Sad

!!! 2010 Update - and Sad news to report.
September 30, 2010 - New York - Prescott-Ogdensburg Bridge
CPF Postmaster Reports:

      Sept. 2010

From Mary Beth Washburton - New York state - Very sad that 3 of the 4 chicks did not survive, BUT the one that did had quite a journey. The surviving chick was rescued from the river when it was about a week away from fledging. She spent two nights in rehab and I took her back to the bridge and she made it!!

      Postmaster Notes:
While this high fledgling mortality is a typical happening at most bridge nesting sites where the nests are directly over large spans of water, it is still never the less heart braking to see this happen year after year at these same sites. While many man made structures can offer an incredibly good nesting situation, some (as in this case) are not so safe. As always, a big part of the equation and success is as we have all said, location, location, location!

I'm not getting it either.  Pretty sure it's off line at night.I'm guessing the viewers are either checking in or never closed their browser.

I wonder if they had hatched before removal, would they have to leave them there?

Maybe it is a Jersey thing, but Rich and I are with you 100% on the fascinating!  Ugly as sin when perched and poetry in motion!  Don't want to offend, but God knew what he was doing!  2thumbsup

Something about him I just love. I was glued to him! IDK

I hope Beauty can find some cached food. She has to be hungry by now. Archer stopped by briefly and took off. What's up with that boy?

question--is A bringing and food for B????

Not sure if he's bringing her food anymore but he does give her a break so she can go eat.

Speaking of eating, it's time for A to give her a break now.

Osprey eggs survive move

Published : Wednesday, 13 Apr 2011, 3:05 PM EDT

MAITLAND, Fla. - One of three Osprey eggs rescued Tuesday is hatching at the Audubon Birds of Prey Center in Maitland, volunteers there confirmed.

This comes a day after the eggs were rushed to be incubated at the center because the owner of a crane removed the nest holding the eggs in Tampa.

The owner did not have a federal permit to remove the eggs, but did so anyway, saying he was losing money while the crane sat idle.

As of noon Wednesday, one of the eggs had a hole in it and the chick inside was opening its mouth, according to Nancy Murrah, a volunteer with the Audubon Center.

Murrah said the other two eggs were doing fine, and were also expected to hatch soon. She said the eggs were close to hatching when they were removed from the nest, which made them less vulnerable to damage from being moved too much.

When all three chicks hatch, volunteers and staff will care for them until they are old enough and well enough to be placed in a foster nest.

Murrah said they will look for an osprey nest with the chicks that are around the same age, and put them in there. She said ospreys are, in general, good parents and will likely care for the new chicks as if they were their own.

Here's a picture I took of Tory. She sure is a pretty Falcon. I didn't know the color of the Falcon depends on what region they are from. She's very dark and is 4 years old.

Injury: Partial Wing Amputee and Now Unable to F
Aquired: September 2009 From Audubon Society of Portland Oregon

thanks shaky--the error appeared in red in the shoutbox again today----it said that i had
been timed out (oh, no!) and there was no subject or message and i should try again----but
my posts are all posted and viewable---weird
i guess i'll just ignore it

Shaky-could it have something to do with the log in screen?  I know I personally have never seen a message like that, but I always log in forever.  Don't know what happens if you have the forum open when the log out time happens...

I have never been logged out...I'm always on!!! Even when I'm not home, my pc is on and forum is open. Didn't know it timed out.
