Last night around 10, my page suddenly went big, I mean real big. I tried to make it normal size but to no avail. I re-booted but that didn't work. Was going to use a system restore but I figured I'd do in the am. I shut it down and went to bed. Now I see maybe this is why after Bobbie's post. It's still pretty big but I do Love the eye catching Red and Blue, it gives the forum some personality. Really cool Shaky, thanks.
16294  Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Helping Birds Survive Window Strikes on: 20-Mar-11, 09:52:08 PM

A hawk dives into your yard, and a frightened robin  slams against a window, mistaking the transparent rectangle for an escape route. But you can help. Fold its wings gently over its body in their natural position, grasp the bird lightly, and wrap it loosely several times in the towel. Keep the wrapped bird indoors for about 15 minutes. Then step outside and gently unwrap the bird. Very likely, it will fly away. If you find a sick or injured bird, consult a wildlife rehabilitation expert near you.
16295  Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Peregrine falcon spotted in downtown Fargo on: 20-Mar-11, 09:49:50 PM
FARGO – For some, the arrival of a robin is a sure sign of spring.

For others, it’s a peregrine falcon sighting.

This week, at least one perennial visitor has apparently returned to the Fargo-Moorhead area.

Miracle, a female peregrine falcon who has nested outside the 12th floor of the Bank of the West building in downtown Fargo for several years, has again been seen downtown.

Or at least Wickham Corwin thinks it’s Miracle.

Until the local bird watcher is able to get a good look at the band on the bird’s leg, Corwin won’t be sure.

If it is Miracle, there is so far no sign of her past mating partner, Dakota Ace, a male peregrine who has been visiting the Fargo area since 2000.

But, Corwin added, it is not unusual for Dakota Ace to show up later than Miracle each spring.

Again today the intruder appeared at the nest, 3 times that I saw, one time landing. Ground observers did see the male, Liberty, today. They also observed the intruder sitting in the tree above Belle. The intruder appears to be a young adult female as she still has black markings on her head. When Belle leaves the nest, the intruder chases her. All this according to ground reports.
The intruder landed on the nest at 7:30 pm nest time. Belle charged her with open wings, then went and stood over the eaglet until the intruder left. I recorded the event but missed the landing.

The intruder is sitting on the nest and momma is protecting her eaglet.

From CMNH Mick

Update Shepherdstown. The intruder female remains but doesn't show aggression, only a constant presence.

UPDATE:

1 hour and 45 minutes ago the eaglet stopped moving. 45 minutes ago, Belle finally brought a fish to the nest. It was too late.

Does this mean the eaglet died?? No more posts after this one!
