K is for KOKAKO! Never heard of it, was just looking for a bird with a strange name.

New Zealand Tiri Tiri

The Kōkako (Callaeas cinerea) is a forest bird which is endemic to New Zealand. It is slate-grey with a black mask and wattles. It is one of three species of New Zealand Wattlebird, the other two being the endangered Tieke (saddleback) and the extinct Huia. Previously widespread, Kōkako populations throughout New Zealand have been decimated by the predations of mammalian invasive species such as possums, stoats, cats and rats and their range has contracted significantly. There were formerly two sub-species of Kōkako, North Island and South Island, although the South Island subspecies may now be extinct. (Wiki)

A very pretty bird.

If that's a Falcon.....

A Kuwaiti farmer caught a massive falcon by luring it to the ground after threatening his sheep but says he might set it free again, the Kuwaiti Arabic language daily Alanba reported on Sunday.

Amer Al Ajami said he trapped and caught the bird by a “technical” method after he saw it flying above his sheep many times.

Pictures published in Alanba showed the bird could be a Peregrine Falcon, one of the largest types of falcons. Its wings are very large while its back is gray and the neck and head are grayish- black.

“This type of falcon is one of the most dangerous birds of prey….I stalked the bird and caught it in a technical method that did not cause a serious injury to it….i have moved it to my house,” said Al Ajami, who was shown holding the bird.

“I am willing to hand it over to the zoo…if they refuse to take it, then I will set it free again…but I am concerned that this bird might threaten my sheep again…it can devour a small goat or even a baby.”

YES, Shaky, I did realize that. I ordered it because I forgot to when it came out! I thought they were still available, since they were still showing on the website. I see now that I wrote 2010 for the new PeFa calendars, clearly a mistake on the part of my feeble mind; I meant 2011.
I wanted yours for the pictures, not the calendar year.
I apologize for any confusion I may have caused. stupid
