Mary and I emailed back and forth also. Boy, she was such an upbeat, positive woman.  She had quite a sense of humor also. I'll miss my B-day sister!  handshake

Very exciting day at the nest and elsewhere and I missed most of it! The early bird does indeed get the photos! I arrived a 7:15 a.m. and was already too late but thank you thank you thank you for our property owner AND Mike Inman who were there before me! YAY! The property owner found Dad and a friend in the nest tree and got some great photos before they took off after mating YAY!!!! The property owner went home and Mike followed the eagles and I stayed at the nest until Mike called to tell me where he had found them. I found Mike but of course the female had flown but Dad was still there!
Just to put this story in context, I was half-way back home this morning at 7:51 am so a lot happened in those 35 minutes! Mike will post some photos later of Dad and his new "chicky" as he calls her! LOL!!!
Here are the property owners photos from this morning - keep in mind it was dark and very cloudy as always! Eagle On! And YAY Dad!!!    heart

Utica dead pigeon mystery gets some answers
The state Department of Environmental Conservation said late Tuesday that the department's Wildlife Health Unit in Delmar examined dead pigeons found in the Utica area in late November and determined the likely cause of death to be Avitrol, a pesticide used for nuisance pigeons and spread on whole corn.

I wish I had the time to watch all the cams like I used to. This was always one of my favorite scrapes.

I remember having like 10 cams open at once. We have that many just on Rfalcon... whistle

Glad to hear that Pigott is around. Wish the cams were active . . .

They are trying so hard to get funding for a new cam, just not sure how to go about it. They are working on it.

Harriet and M15 are becoming more and more in sync as they continue their well timed turns at incubating. In a few short weeks their team work will hopefully reward them with two beautiful eaglets hatching into the world. Harriet and M15 have labored tirelessly to ensure this will happen. Harriet takes the overnight shift but has been seen coaxing M15 to get up and off the eggs. She uses the gentlest nudges and soft vocals in her communication to him.

We got this great video from Falcon Cam viewer Eric Chandler which shows the pair vocalizing to each other on the side of a building near 101 Hudson St. Peregrine falcons mate for life. In early spring the male performs aerial displays and he also provides the female with gifts to show his commitment to her - in the form of food. To help strengthen their relationship (pair bond) the male and female perform what is referred to as a "bowing" when they vocalize with a “ee-chupping” call which is seen in this short video.
