Hmmmm. Foxed already, Donna. Heading towards a warbler sp., largely because of the thin bill... we shall see!

Nope, your not foxed Bobbie, your so on the right track!  2thumbsup

Twitchers' delight as rare bird spotted in Europe for first time after taking wrong turn in Canada on way to Mexico

Even for a birdwatcher, a trudge across four precarious miles of shifting sand dunes and shingle lashed by hail storms and gale force winds shows unusual commitment.

But when the object of your interest has gone 3,000 thousand miles out of its way to be there, it seems a small sacrifice to make.

Hundreds of twitchers have been making the pilgrimage to Blakeney Point, a spit on the north Norfolk coast, after hearing that a Yellow-bellied Flycatcher had landed there - its first ever appearance in Europe.

I believe that this is an Alder Flycatcher. I suppose there is a very slim
chance it could be an eastern Willow Flycatcher, but the eyering, crown
color, contrasty throat, primary projection, bright green back all indicate
Alder (as well as migration timing and distance).

TROY, Vt. (AP) — Vermont and federal law enforcement officials are offering a reward for help finding the person who shot a bald eagle in the town of Troy.

Officials say the juvenile eagle was hit by a shotgun blast off Vermont Route 100 on Sept. 5.

The bird is being cared for by the Vermont Institute of Natural Science in Quechee. It is expected to recover and officials hope it can be returned to the wild.

Vermont game wardens and special agents of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are conducting a joint investigation into the incident. The federal government is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for help convicting the shooter.

(At least he has a chance)

What's this bird?

Yes, I say hoopoe also!

Awwww, rats! I missed the Hoopoe ID contest! Yes, these glories do turn up in Ireland, and I have seen them in Wexford. First saw them in Majorca - they look like big pink butterflies in flight. Also saw a Hoopoe's nest, and believe me, for all their elegant appearance, they sure have poor house-keeping habits!

(Missed the Reed Bunting too... I was headed towards a bunting sp. but never did get any further... Bring 'em on, Donna!)

I posted one this am but can't find it. Maybe I'm losing it and put it some where else!  stupid Anyway, here's today's "Who am I"

Bob Marcotte is on a roll at the moment, this time with the story of a caterpillar. Who could come up with such a design? (Just hope this biological control actually works, with no unfortunate side-effects.)

I'm the part-time marketing and PR manager at Ganondagan, and I told Pete Jemison (Ganondagan Historic Site manager) about the falcon bearing his name.  He didn't know either.

Wow, I'll bet he's thrilled! Thanks
