A catio makes sense. After all, the Rochester peregrines have a 12th floor falcony.

I thought falcony was how it smells in the scrape when a few big eyases are spending all their time there. You know, that prey-fume aroma.

Like, it smells a little Falcony up there?  clap

Thank you Janet and dale, I thought I was the only one. None of my friends ever heard of it and they are my age. I thought I was making it up myself until I found it on the net. My husband thought I was crazy, talking Barracuda.  silly

 Fledge Watch-Day 1
July 29, 2010 - Etobicoke - William Osler
Bruce Massey Reports:

Started the  Watch at around 1415 HRS.  It took me about 45 minutes to find out that both the Eyesis were on the Ledge. It was still fairly hot and they were asleep in the shade near the back of the Ledge on the East end of the Hospital.  Around the 1600 Hrs they began to get active.  The Female was visible until 1700 Hrs. and then like a shift change almost on the dot the 2 adults changed positions.

At around 1710 Hrs. we almost had a fledge, the male was flapping and got blown about 2 feet in the air and just held on to the ledge by his 6 Talons- just barely.  Shortly after, the two Eyesis settled down for a siesta for and hour or so.

Around  1930 hrs the two started getting active again, especially when Mom brought some feed by the nest.  The Female then fed the Boy for 10-15 minutes and about 20 minutes the bird headed back to the column.  I took the the chance and put the Watch to Bed as I intended to be here in the Morning first thing.

I watched it all the time after school, until it ended. No one I know remembers this. Someone out there must have seen it.

Sad   Posted by C and C on CMNH Forum-

We've still been checking this site from down below, and still no sightings or sounds of Warrior so it's obvious that Warrior didn't make it. Seneca and Cheyenne have been spending most of their time under the bridge when they're not out and about. Last week we watched Cheyenne go down to the river and bathe on one of the hot days. He flew out of the bridge and perched in this low tree on the cliff overlooking the river, then took off...

That's so sad, I had a feeling. Tragic for both parents.  crying

MAK/Dan: On Ped bridge, no falcons. Big Hawk on top of Brewery, deer down in grass, fawn running around being silly.

Good morning bloggers,

It’s another pleasant day here at Lowes and all seems well on the nest. There was a fish delivery just a short while ago and, yup you guessed it, greedy guts got in there first! Chick no.2 really needs to start growing up and fighting for itself, and mum needs to let it! Lady is due to leave by the end of next week and she seems to be on a mission to eat as much as possible to gain the strength she needs, which is a good sign she is ready to leave. Her progress would be better if she didn’t have all these intruders harassing her and the chicks, but a mother’s work is never done and she will defend her young and home to the very last.

We are all savouring these moments however, as we all know, this very well could be Lady’s last year and we will applaud her every little victory, the last being here final(?) migration.

I wish her safe travels and hope she makes it and returns next season. What a great mother she is.

Cat owners often face a conundrum: Let their beloved felines roam free outdoors, where they might encounter dangers (and pose a threat to birds), or keep them inside, where they’re likely to spend a good chunk of the day perched on the windowsill looking outside. For a growing number of cat owners, the answer is building a “catio”, an enclosed outdoor space for Mr. Whiskers.

CATIO
