Too muggy and hot to fly. This is the quietest I've heard it in a while.

Just spoke to Frank and although they don't have the ID on the new black/green banded male - he does apparently have 'black tape' on over the US band ID - leftover from fledge no doubt!  I'll keep you posted.

Not one of Rochester's finest...but keep us posted.

 Blackberry Rescued and Released
- Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre
Frank Butson Reports:

About 1pm Mark Nash was notified that Blackberry was trapped on a glass balcony at the corner of Bloor and Islington. He attended and was able to rescue Blackberry without incident. He was fine. About 1115pm Mark and I arrived and with the help of security released Blackberry without incident on the roof of the Sunlife Centre….without incident is relative. There was a fire alarm going off just as we arrived to the point we had to release Blackberry. This meant when Mark and I finished the release we had to walk all the way down 18 floors to get out of the building,Im sure muscles neither of us knew we ever had will ache tomorrow morning…Blackberry’s revenge?

Looks like some awful big prey left under Main cam...no takers?

Got a call from MAK...Jemison flying like a pro, went out towards park and back. Now he is one level above Archer, who is just above the nest.  THANKS MAK!  clap
20580  Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Re: Sad news for the 25 yr old Osprey mom in Scotland, still has chics in nest on: 28-Jun-10, 07:22:52 AM
What a wonderful clear, fresh washed morning here at Lowes- after a big thunder storm last night, which made the cameras go off for a while (sorry!) and which brought much needed rain (as our well is looking very dry indeed).
Our chicks are now just over five weeks old, and as many of you have observed, starting to look like proper wee ospreys, not babies any more. With most of their juvenile plumage has grown in they are now able to regulate their own temperature pretty well and are shower proof! They are also now the size of small chickens and getting more co-ordinated, especially with those huge feet.
This week we should also see the chicks starting to stretch their wings more and begin the process of developing their flight muscles by flapping. Before long they will be standing on the nest edge giving us all heart attacks! It is hard to believe it may only be two weeks or so until their first flights, all being well. Meanwhile they are still benefitting from mums TLC- they will never know just how lucky they are to have her!
