!!! Flying well June 14, 2010 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre Linda Woods Reports: Star, Legacy and Lorenzo appear to be flying well at this stage. Two of the juveniles return to the nest ledge regularly in search of a meal from one of the adults. They are still using the hotel roof top and neighbouring roof tops for shelter from the sun and rain and of course, more meals. Today they were spotted in the direct area of the Sheraton Hotel and I am sure they are giving the hotel guests an air show in the evening showing off the newly acquired flight skills

I like this box set-up! Gives the kids an early peek at something other than the box. It's better in some ways than the "playpen" at the Kodak tower. There's no four-foot drop to get there, and it's easy to get back to the nest box if needed (for instance, to get out of the rain). There's also a ramp going down into the alcove below so the eyases can get up and down. The downside is that there's basically nothing on the south side except a long drop to the ground. Hopefully when they go off that side it'll be under good wing power. That's what scares me...the looooong drop off. What's in front of the nest and down....sidewalk..traffic? YIKES. Need some mattresses down there, in case. Trampoline? makes me nervous too but I keep remembering the Sheraton Toronto. They are on the 43rd floor so when they are on the ledge, that is how far up they are. So TRUE jeanne....they all did fine. I think their pretty smart unless "BUMPED".

As of noon today, we have three fledges (of three). -Lorraine had just fledged and was being tracked down; -Both Perkins and Hennen had fledged on previous days and had had to be picked up (by Deborah) and returned to the Library when they landed (not on their first flights) on the ground in inconvenient locations. -Perkins flew off again and seems to be getting good control very quickly. -At last report he was up on the Carlson (where I saw him land at the end of my shift) observing the library from across Church street. -Hennen was still on the Library as of 12:15. They're really, really beautiful at this stage, aren't they?
Cool...have fun and YES, they are adorable.....(at any age).
