Lorenzo is slow moving June 12, 2010 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre Linda Woods Reports:
Our last peregrine to fledge ( Lorenzo ) is still keeping lower than the Sheraton Hotel. Last evening we had left him on the east side of 120 Adelaide St. This morning I could not find him, he had moved off of that perch. I left the area around 11:45 am and returned around 1:30. and joined up with another volunteer. She had spotted him on the east side of 120 again.
After the rain we decided to view from the a higher elevation and spotted two juveniles on the north east side of the vacant building on Richmond St. An adult was on the north west corner.
After a while the well flighted juvenile took off along with both adults. Adults returned and to try and nudge our slow flyer into the air without any luck. Eventually both adults took off again. Lorenzo then decided he did not like being by himself and flew to the next building eastward ( 85 Richmond ) He scooted across the roof top a few times trying to find the adults. Around 7p.m. he took off southward along Sheppard Street and we lost in the mist and the flat light. We repositioned to ground level and did a search of the area. We could not find any indication where he ended up. No peregrines in view. We think he either circled back or is in the area of Sheppard St and Adelaide at 7:30p.m.

Well, the news is not so good today. Where shall I start - bad news, good news. Mike and I were out watching three of the girls doing their thing on the ledge around the corner from the scrape. Well, not quite around the corner. It is an L shape. They can hop/fly between terraces on the 41st floor. Which one of them did.
Then a passerby said they picked up one on Friday at 2 am and she was taken to a rehab center. ???? We checked the Jersey Journal and discovered that our first girl had gotten down to the ground and was picked up by JC Animal Control after boys were throwing rocks at her. Raptor Trust reported to the paper that she has bruises and a broken clavicle. The RT has been wrong before in their diagnosis so we will wait and see. But the bruises would be totally believable after a 37 story fall. As would a broken clavicle. The good news is that she can be rehabilitated.
And the second good news is that as of 1:30 pm on Saturday her sisters were still on the 41st floor.
Never a dull moment with fledglings. As far as the boys throwing rocks at her, I don't know if I want to cry or scream! They need a good whooping. Thanks Bonnie. Hope she does OK.

OH NO! is there any news? YES!!! Not looking too good for Ranger. From the forum: Update on Ranger I talked with Laura Jordan of the Medina Raptor Center at 2:45 pm on Friday, 6/11/2010. She reported that Ranger made it through last night at Dr. Riggs' veterinary clinic and, though he is very serious condition, there is some slight indication of improvement. He will be returned to Medina Raptor Center for weekend care and then returned to Dr. Riggs for a neurological assessment on Monday. I will post an update on Monday regarding his condition at that time.
