INDIANAPOLIS -- After a near miss earlier this week, another young peregrine falcon is missing from its downtown roost.
Volunteers said the banded bird was spotted on a car in a downtown alley below its home on the 31st floor of Market Tower on Thursday.

As people stopped to take pictures, they said a woman came out of a nearby building and drove off with the bird still on the windshield, according to an entry in the Falcon Blog.
"Patrol members have looked in the immediate area but no luck. No telling how far the bird hung on," wrote falcon watcher Laura James-Reim, who said volunteers searched Thursday night with no luck.
On Tuesday, another of the young birds, named Hatton, was returned to the tower after it was found on the ground outside a building at Ohio and Capitol. Volunteers said the bird likely had an unsuccessful flight or was the victim of Monday's storm.
The peregrine falcon is an endangered species in Indiana, which is why the birds are being closely watched. Four new chicks were welcomed in April.
Anyone who sees a banded bird is asked to call Richard at 317-697-9922 or James-Reim at 317-403-5503.
HOW DO YOU NOT know a falcon is riding on your windshield???????????????????

Donna's laptop reminded me that there was a sale at Best Buy (strongly dislike the store, but the price was right) on a Western Digital 2TB external hard drive for $119...it's backing up my 9,500 & change pictures as I type. Half the price I spent on a 500GB drive a few years ago that filled up last year. And I remember getting excited at my first 1.2MB floppy drive...hard drive was still a pipe dream then.
No time like the present to back up your important stuff. Never know when the blue screen of death will come to visit.
I use Mozy online backup. It stores up to 2 GB for free. I haven't used 3/4 yet as of today. Had it for a year now. I learned my lesson a few yrs ago...when my Hard Drive crashed and I lost all my MK pics, family pics...and other important stuff. Losing MK was the worst. When I get my new Laptop, I just click restore and all my stuff is there and in the proper folders. I hope!

Banding took place today and I had the pleasure of watching the live video feed from the banding room at the Jackson County Tower Building. The nest is just outside a window on the 14th floor so the banding table was only a few feet away from it. It was a simple process to bring them in through the window and back out again the same way. The whole process only took 25 minutes!
Chayton and Big Red have one daughter & two sons:
Ella, Jackson & Ernie
Ernie is named after Ernie Harwell, the famous Detroit Tigers broadcaster, who recently passed away.
All appear to be in good health. We look forward to fledging in a couple of weeks.
Lynn
Congrats Lynn... Cute names too!

Thanks Donna! I haven't been quilting very long but have been sewing all my life. I hope you also checked out some of my posts from last summer. More bird and wildlife stuff there.
