Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: question - kaver and kestrel - c. July 2005

NO ONE remembers? I was sure that Kaver took a kestrel!
I just need confirmation or details. Someone must have some memory of this! It was kind of disturbing at the time, I remember...those kestrels were pestering the peregrines, but still...
And what DID happen to the 2005 posts on the Yahoo Group?
dale, so far I found this on Yahoo: It happened in 2006 and your right 2005 posts are gone! Actually, the kestrels almost seemed to taunt the peregrines, who would mainly only give chase.....until last year when Dan witnessed Kaver take at least one of the kestrels and make a meal of it. So, it is not unheard of for the peregrines to snatch the kestrels. Then there's the time Dan S. witnessed Kaver being harrassed by a Kestrel while flying towards the old Changing Scene's Restaurant. To make a long story short, Dan was extremely surprised when Kaver did a 180 and grabbed the Kestrel. I'll leave the rest to your imagination. ;-)

I just love Travelers...NOT! These people just don't get it. I sent an email to the Webmaster who forwarded it to the DEP who said it's Traveler's and the Children's Museum in charge. Jeeze, doesn't anyone there care about these falcons?? Every year I get P'd off because someone has to remind them...THEY HAVE FALCONS!! Yeah they will band them and send them on their way....no news..no updates.....sheesh.

Yes, we (Shaky, Lisa McK and Carol P) saw Archer on top of the Times Square bldg, next to the NE wing. He flew off and I spotted him flyinging past Midtown and low behind a bldg. Never saw him after that. He's probably out on a hunt.
Just an FYI that this is directly above the nestbox. It's neat that we can "talk" to each other while you're on watch! This will be a useful tool once you need eyes on the ground & the nestbox at the same time! Technology....ain't it grand?

Very cute! However, Squirrels leave blood and urine all over the place, which is why we have moved all of our bird feeders to the back yard and away from the white porch.
BLOOD!! from???? Feet, maybe? Squirrels scratch each other all the time, but I'm tired of cleaning up after them, so back yard in the trees they go! Ew!
