Our last falcon Orion fledged just before 6 am this morning. However, we are all very saddened to learn that she apparently impacted the State Office building and was killed at around 9:30 this morning. Her body was recovered and is currently with the DEC. We are awaiting final comfirmation of her band number. We are all very saddened by this loss but are trying to remain focused on the positive side and enjoy the two young fledglings who are doing very well. Thank you to everyone for all their continued support of these amazing birds. FLY HIGH ORION!!! Fly Free Orion!

Soggy, wet weekend June 28, 2015 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
Linda Woods Reports:
Finally a break in the weather just as the sun is setting. Sandy is still unfledged, but she is showing more interest in leaving. No flight lessons from the adults today, but they are sitting in places where she can see them flying around and showing interest in joining them. Lots of flapping and screaming today, more than I have seen since the start of the watch. Bed time food delivered by both Rhea Mae and Tiago around 8:30 this evening. Good, eat and go to sleep, Sandy.
As of yesterday....Nope
Just checked, I don't see her either...maybe she did fledge!!! (nail biting)

This morning, the PA Game Commission brought a Peregrine Falcon fledgling from its nest in Oakland to our Wildlife Center for care. We have admitted it for medical evaluation, which will occur over the next several days. The bird does not have appropriate flight feathers and may have some neurological issues. It will remain under our care until decisions can be made in the bird's best interest. The Animal Rescue League will provide further updates on the falcon's medical condition and the future treatment plan once this is determined. If you would like to donate to help support the care of the falcon, please do so by visiting our website at www.animalrescue.org/donate and type “Falcon” in the notes section.

Meet "Runway." This is a first for the Feather. On June 20th the call came in, we have a sandhill colt that is without its parents. Well the parents flew into a small landing strip and met with a landing plane. The pilot got out and needless to say both parents were dead on contact. While he is standing there, out of the tall grasses comes this little colt.........running after its parents. They kindly drove him here and then went back and listened on the runway for maybe another colt in the tall grass. No luck. Sad for the parents! but what a darling baby!

I did light a candle for Bronx just now. I got to a screen where I was able to type a message and add my country and name but it seemed to be just a 'general' page. When I tried to search for Bronx, I saw other people's candles but it didn't me an option to add my name there.
Anyway, it's the thought that counts.
Don't like this new page. No unlit candles to light! Pfft!!!

From Rich at TS.
OK, here's the update. The DEC was just here, they picked Bronx up and whisked him away to the rehab clinic. Bronx was calm, not panicked at all, the heart was beating strong the DEC officer said. A good sign. One of the back legs looked injured but the DEC guys didn't seem overly worried at this point. If I hear anything new over the next days, you'll know. 2:45pm

Guy says Buffalo has better skyline than #ROC. Yeah, no When I was a kid I called Times Square the "rabbit ear building" Rachel Barnhart added, Julia C-H @muzenews @rachbarnhart #ROC has a spaceship, the batman bldg, and a Roman God flying overhead. Nothing in Buffalo's skyline can compete with that! Rochester has the best, most distinctive skyline in Upstate NY. Buffalo and Syracuse have blah skylines. Albany's is okay. No wonder they borrowed ours! http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2015/06/oopsy_syracuse_ironman_medals_display_rochesters_skyline.htmlYikes: Syracuse Ironman medals display Rochester's skyline! SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Since when did downtown Syracuse have an arched suspension bridge over a river? Or a skyscraper with a top that looks like the point of a pencil? Anyone who won a medal in Sunday's Ironman 70.3 Syracuse triathlon might be wondering if they were in the right place. The medals read, "Ironman 70.3 Syracuse," but the skyline displayed on them screams Rochester. (OOPS)
