Q. Do birds store food for the winter?
A. Chickadees, nuthatches, some woodpeckers, jays, and crows store, or "cache," food. Many other feeder birds—doves, sparrows, blackbirds, finches, etc.—do not store food at all.
My Blue Jays must have a few pounds of peanuts stored! Love when they stash them on my window sill and in the gutter! They always come back for it! Funny, one day I started hiding the peanuts myself and the little moochers found every one, they were watching me!!! SMART!!

Wait......are you saying you are not sure if 99 is a male?? Um, 2 females would not be hanging around each other! Now I'm confused or is Billie a male? No. MAK said the gender of 99 needed to be changed. I'm saying the official NYSDEC banding information that lists 99 as a female cannot be changed until it is proven that 99 is a male as we presume him to be. The same that WE all believed Sabrina was a male fromthe time he was in the nest. NYSDEC would not change the gender until he had produced eyases and was not the one to lay the eggs. Ahhh, I get it, not our call!!
