Sad Please, could everyone back off just a bit and drop this discussion before someone's feelings are irreparably hurt? The quiet non-public banding is how it's going to be, no matter what anyone posts on the forum. This entire topic is becoming more and more unpleasant each day, and that saddens me.

Dot in PA

I agree, it could get heated and go on forever but this needed to be discussed. We have lots of new members who I'm sure are just as curious as the rest as to the banding protocol. Now we all know it's just not the right venue for public viewing. We were just spoiled with the MK bandings! It's all good! I think Shaky answered every question imaginable!  handshake

If anyone should be invited, it should be the main watchers!  handshake  Cheesy

I agree, but that's only one point of view. DEC may have another pov. The building owner may have yet another.  And what about tenants and their employees? What about GVAS? Sponsors?

Who's pov counts? Who's in charge? Who has a say? Who is responsible if someone is injured? Who is responsible if a falcon is injured? What's the plan? How are these various parties supposed to interact with each other? Who wants to organize it? Who has time to organize it? Will it be satisfactory for all parties? Why should a party follow a plan if it doesn't agree with it?

Holy ???'s Batman!!  stupid

This afternoon, Chris Becher and Barb Baldinger checked on the nest at the AT&T building in Pontiac, MI. We confirmed that the adult female is still Screech (black 83/X). She hatched in 2008 in Etobicoke, Ontario, CA. We did not see the male while we were there, but did see at least one chick moving around in the nest box. The nest box is very high on the tower and is inaccessible for banding.

3775  Other Nature Related Information / Falcon Web Cams / Majesty and Barry have a new nest on: 05-Jun-14, 08:52:45 PM
This morning, Chris Becher and Barb Baldinger were joined by three more MDNR friends to install a new nest tray on the Durant Apartments in Flint, MI. Majesty and Barry had been nesting on a long, wide, gravel ledge of the UM Northbank Center, kitty-corner across the street. Earlier this season, a very nice, traditional, three sided, roofed nest box with a web cam was installed on that ledge at the UM Northbank Center. Majesty apparently did not like it. She laid her eggs on the narrow ledge of the Durant Apartments and they rolled off to the sidewalk below. If she does try to nest again this season, she now has a safer option with the new nest tray.

Aw! Sad Majesty and two eggs on the Durant Apartments in Flint. May 7, 2014

We rescued her off the sidewalk and she's now at the vet for a quick check up to be sure she's ok. Oh Schatzi! 23 minutes ago
