Alberta Environment says there are now enough of the tall, heavy, long-legged wading birds to withstand hunting. Spokeswoman Carrie Sancartier said experts estimate about 580,000 of the migratory birds nest or fly over Alberta.   Sad  I hope not!

Madame X and Surge may have a new egg(s) down at the other end of the scrape towards the cam.  Can't see the egg but she's been laying on something the past 2 days and nights.  The other day Surge dug up an old egg at the regular end so they had buried one of them.  I guess he wanted to move it to where the new one is but couldn't figure out how to do that so it's still sitting there.

They buried an egg?? Wow, new behavior! Hope this works out for them! THX!!

Maybe it's like S2 was - her hormones have to turn first.  Remember when S2 took over for Ma?  And ates all the kids food and stuff and then one day, it clicked and suddenly she started caring for the babies.  Froona used to say it's all to do with the hormones and which stage she's at.

I remember that like it was yesterday Carly! So horrible to watch then.....  wub2 heart
