Canadian Peregrine Foundation
A report just in from Linda. On the south side of Mount Sinai Hospital she has located a single peregrine sitting in the same position as Hunter and Ranger habitually used to sit on cold days for the morning warm up. While we cannot confirm that this is in fact Hunter, there is a very good chance that it is. It looks like he is still in the area and holding on to the Mount Sinai territory on his own. When the frigid weather breaks, we will be down to the territory to see if we can locate the bird and confirm whether this is indeed Hunter. Thank you so much Linda for this important update.

1960's postcard view of Downtown Rochester, NY . The caption reads:

"The 'new' Rochester, NY, looking west up Broad Street from Midtown Tower. Behind a colorful new motel are the famed Rundel Library and huge War Memorial. The gleaming Public Safety Building is adjacent to the rising steel of the Courts Building. At right center is the winged Times Square Building."

Do you have memories of the Lakeshore Drive-In Theatre? It's been closed for 20 years and now a local developer (owner of Mr. Dominic's restaurant) may bring it back!    Shocked

Today’s FUN FOTO FRIDAY is this 1920′s view of the Erie Canal aqueduct looking east. You’re looking at the covering over the old canal which would soon become Broad Street and the Rochester Subway beneath.

Just some stuff I found on fb

The guy is a Falconer, I guess!  He has a few pics on his page with the Falcon and other birds it took down.

New way of transmitting I guess.

Top Flight Falconry Products is introducing a new revolutionary method for attaching the Marshall Radio RT Plus, RT UHF and the RT Turbo Transmitters by way of Leg mount style. It is the easiest method for attaching and removing a transmitter from your falcon or hawk with a few simple twists of the wrist. Held in place and very secure with a single silicone O-ring which is rated for the most extreme conditions. Outfit each of your birds, (vest or bag for safe storage) with the Leg Mount Nut. The bewit I use is slightly smaller around the tarsus than the standard one so there is less play and less flop. Yes it's a bit more difficult to put on the first time, but you only have to do this once cause it stays on your bird. A bewit with less slack keeps the transmitter from flapping around and causing problems that a loosely mounted transmitter could. Flying more than one bird but only have two transmitters? This is the slickest and easiest way to transfer transmitters from bird to bird. The Nut and Cap are CNC machined out of 7075 aluminum and black anodized.

Her name is Nike  and I guess she is trained to take down stuff!!  Sad

Bruce did spend some time at the Duncan Mill Road nest site and wandered around the neighborhood. As he was making his way back, he did find a peregrine adult on the east side of 240 Duncan Mill Rd. Unfortunately the bird took off before he could ID who it was. The great news is that there is definitely peregrines holding the fort at Duncan Mill Road.

From what I heard, Kendal is doing well and is in a bigger flight cage. No more human interaction and will still be a long recovery for him. He could not defend himself at this point!

Sending BIG healing prayers for sweet Kendal!!  heart
