5401  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Linn (2007) & Reuben - Scarborough/Yellow Pages on: 22-Jul-13, 12:46:56 PM
The head count rounds from this weekend tally. Not all birds have been resighted as of yet but that could have just been timing and increased activity levels due to the cooler air. Here's what we have so far.

Yellow Pages - two adults confirmed
ICICI - two adults and both juveniles confirmed
Duncan Mill Road - adult female confirmed, adult male in rehab
Toronto Sheraton - both adults confirmed and one juvenile heard
King Street - both adults confirmed and one juvenile confirmed
North York - both adults confirmed
Etobicoke Sun Life - both adults and three juveniles confirmed
MEC - juvenile female confirmed
William Osler - both adults and two juveniles confirmed

Given that the birds are now more active and moving about it is making it harder to be certain of seeing everyone. The tape color on the juveniles is helping to be sure of who we are seeing. The data keeps pouring in and we will keep you updated as the counts progress.

LOL, I just posted this the same time as you Ei under Canada Falcons!!!   handshake

Oh my, 2 falcon chicks in 1 egg?? Cool stuff huh? Is that why they say, "Don't count your chickens before they hatch?" You just never know! Thanks, interesting read!

Paul, you and Ricardo took some great pics also, love the one with Rosetta on the metal work with her wings out. She means business! Thank you and it was great to see you again.

Posted today:

One of the surviving brothers has hit a window at Moore College (same area where the female hit a window and died from injuries) and suffered a concussion.  He's at a rehab facility and they hope for a quick release.

Just goes to show, no matter how long they have been flying, there is still a danger. Bless him and hope he will be OK. Hope our juvies do well also and don't get too cocky!

Finally got to go through the rest of my pictures.  I debated on whether to crop them or leave them as-is. I decided on as-is...a bit more perspective...and they're pretty fuzzy cropped Wink

Your right, no cropping needed! Nice pics Ei!

"We see the loss of a chick by natural causes as an educational moment as this happens in nature all the time," said Strassburger.

So perhaps this ruling will apply only to natural bridges?  Roll Eyes

Good question!

Critical Update. Kendal is Found Injured and In Care
July 21, 2013 - Toronto - Don Mills

Tracy Simpson Reports:

After Friday’s storms rolled through, we went out to all of the nest sites in our areas to check on the adults and juveniles doing a quick headcount. On Saturday, a gentleman living in the Victoria Park and Ellesmere area found an injured Peregrine on the ground and called Toronto Wildlife Center. The injured Peregrine was an adult and was banded.  After the bird had been delivered to care, the gentleman called our office to let us know of his rescue . We also received contact from TWC regarding the bird and his band number which was solid black recovery band 33 over Y.  This bird was positively identified as Kendal, resident male from 240 Duncan Mill Rd., and he was now being examined for his injuries.  It is believed that during the period of high winds as the front moved through that Kendal was in the air, lost control and struck a building.  X-rays have indicated that he has a fractured clavicle and a fractured coracoid and is now being closely monitored. Bruce stopped by the Duncan Mill road nest site to check in on the rest of the family and found Quest over on the Westin building. The two girls were not in his view but will certainly be coming home for the supper hour looking for food. Our thoughts are certainly with Kendal in the hopes for his speedy recovery and we will keep you updated on his condition.

No no, not Kendal!!  Poor boy, hope he makes a good recovery!!  crying

Speaking of countdowns, the Rfalconcam Forum is approaching the 100,000 post mark.
There are currently 97,788 posts.

See, it's not all me!!!  whistle  Pretty awesome! What's the limit on posts here...infin?

Well, it's definitely not infinite, but it's up there. My guess is 4,294,697,296 or until we run out of disk space, whichever comes first.

Odd number!!   devil

It's an even number...

Tis but odd!  wave
