AS much as they give me the willies, they are amazing at webbing! Thanks Ei!

Things like this just bend my mind. How a person can accomplish something so geometrically perfect,
while creating it only a few feet away from the actual project? I would have to think that people with this
talent are very few and far between...It borders on real 'genius'....

Man Walks All Day to Create Spectacular Snow Patterns.

Artist Simon Beck must really love the cold weather! Along the frozen lakes of Savoie, France, he spends days
plodding through the snow in raquettes (snowshoes), creating these sensational patterns of snow art.
Working for 5-9 hours a day, each final piece is typically the size of three soccer fields!
The geometric forms range in mathematical patterns and shapes that create stunning, sometimes 3D,
designs when viewed from higher levels.
How long these magnificent geometric forms survive is completely dependent on the weather.
Beck designs and redesigns the patterns as new snow falls, sometimes unable to finish a piece
due to significant overnight accumulations.
The main reason for making them was because I can no longer run properly due to problems with my feet,
so plodding about on level snow is the least painful way of getting exercise. Gradually, the reason has become
photographing them, and I am considering buying a better camera.

Love these, thank you nycbird for sending  them!

If they're anything like the ones I saw in my yard you have to be quick. Many years ago I had a flock land one day. They stripped all the berries in about 5 minutes, took off together and were never seen by me again.

Berry users!  Wink

And no more honest or diligent, either.  They say they're taking all the precautions to ensure that human health is not endangered, but ever since the crows started roosting at Washington Square Park at least three years ago, I have yet to see anyone from the city come down and clean the sidewalks surrounding the park.  Three years.  My evening bus stop is right across from Washington Square Park, so I know from whence I speak.  It is literally impossible to take even one step on the sidewalk there without stepping in bird poop.  The bench that is near the bus stop is now completely unusable until spring.  It's disgusting!

When I was there in August, there were guys Power-washing the side walks! They couldn't give the park a shot??  stupid

Thanks Donna and DK.  I was relieved to see that I couldn't spot it in the other photos, but thought I should check with the experts just to be sure.  You two rock!  happy

No expert here either...just a process of elimination!  wave

City of Rochester, NY - Mayor's Office
The City will commence its wildlife damage management program today to disperse a winter roost of 20,000 to 30,000 crows.

Wildlife biologists from the United States Department of Agriculture’s USDA) Wildlife Services program will move the roost with the use of pyrotechnics, spotlights, lasers and amplified electronic recordings of crow distress calls. These methods will not harm the birds.

Management efforts will begin at Downtown’s Washington Square Park on Monday, Dec. 17 around 5 p.m. and continue through the night. The initial phase will conclude on Wednesday, Dec., 19 at approximately 7:30 p.m.   whistle

Thought I'd put this in this thread!
