91  Other Nature Related Information / Falcon Web Cams / Re: Fulham and Barnes Charlie & Tom 2018 on: 01-May-18, 05:41:06 PM
Days I-31 and I-32 - Incubation continued over the weekend with the occasional intruder. Tom did another 9 hour day yesterday but slightly less today with 7hr 41 minutes which is still quite a lot. Interesting how his share has increased over the past week. It looked like one of the eggs had pipped this morning but nothing more developed so it may have been just a bit of dirt (or the egg never got in the same orientation). When Charlie took over for the night shift an hour ago all eggs looked intact in the infrared light. Tomorrow might be the day, we'll see...

Day I-41 - It is not going to happen again this year for Tom and Charlie. The eggs should have hatched middle of last week, there was still an outside chance at the weekend but, now, it is too late... Sad They're still diligently incubating Sad Goes to show that PF was probably not to blame last year as they've had very little to disturb them this year (in comparison)

Guess intruders here as well! Poor Mom and Dad!!

If I had the $$, I'd override that POC......(and it ain't CARP)!  WE.......US humans have destroyed just about every habitat for these animals. Look at the bears, they shoot them for walking into the public's eye, same with deer, they have NO place to go because of the greed WE, not all, have for the taste for the green! Shame on that developer for having no compassion! I swear, I need Xanax after these stories! Feel so bad for that falcon family. I wish them well!  crying pfft, I'm done!

They are getting lots of press involved, here's just one!

Developer seeks to relocate young falcons from downtown nest

Officials say a developer is seeking permission from the federal government to remove four young peregrine falcons from their nest on a downtown Pittsburgh building.

Kate St. John, who monitors the nesting of peregrines in the area, says on her "Outside My Window" blog that the two-week-old birds are nesting near another building being redeveloped for student apartments.

St. John says there have been reports of the parent birds buzzing the workers.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that the Pennsylvania Game Commission says in a letter sent Friday to local peregrine monitors that such nests are protected, but exemption requests can be granted.
The letter says the removal request is "within the parameters" of existing laws and regulations, but adds that "the chicks' health and well-being is our primary interest."

Information from: Tribune-Review, http://triblive.com

I hope this stalls them until they fledge! Of course the parents are going to buzz anyone going near!  stupid

This didn't work for MK and their nest but maybe we can help save these 4 babies!

Here's some way to help voice your anger:

Email sent, I hope they get bombarded and feel the guilt/shame! I can't see how anyone could not LOVE the falcons nesting on their buildings! Then again, some are just about the $$$$$!!
