Don Mills - Wild evening at the site July 09, 2012 - Toronto - Don Mills Ann Brokelman Reports:
Last night Monday July 9 I stopped at the Don Mills site with Patty Gale. The 5 falcons were having a wild night.
Got out of my car to see Blaze hit the window at 240 Duncan. Bounced up and attacked Mira again for the food in her talons. Then Amora got in on the act and was attacking Blaze.
Over and over they were after one another. Mira dissappeared to the back of 220 with food. Blaze and Amora were screaming for food. Amora took off across the road just missing the pink building and landed on
a hydro pole at the back road. Blaze Took off after Kendal. Quest was sitting on top of 220 eating.
Amora took flight again and flew back on top of the 220 building with Mira. Lovely to see the two girls together. Amora took off again towards the pink building and bounced feet first off the building.
Blaze took off and tried to land with Mira who blocked him. He went backwards and finally landed at another location. All five were full of beans.
NO one was hurt. When it started to rain I left.
Donna Hayes saw all 5 birds this morning.
One note is that Quest spend the whole day yesterday till 5pm in her nest. Today she did the same.

Hi guys, it is with a heavy heart the I report some sad news about the beluga whale calf, orphaned just a few weeks ago, along the Alaskan coast. Unfortunately, despite incredible efforts, skill, and love put forth from the Alaska Sea Life Center team and partners like Shedd Aquarium and Georgia Aquarium, the little fighter, which swam every moment with great hope, died late last night. Everyone involved knew that the odds were stacked against us (especially being that no beluga orphan has ever survived in human care), yet the incredible fight to survive displayed this little guy gave us all great hope. Every hour he lived, leading to a day of survival, then followed by a week, and than another, made us all feel that perhaps he was going to beat the odds. Alas, it wasn't meant to be. In the end, even though he has died, he leaves behind new experiences and knowledge that will be passed onto the next rescue of an orphaned beluga. While it is sad to see him go, all of us will cherish the experience we had with him. - Jeff Corwin Swim Free little Beluga

Just so you know, Amora and Blaze (again) both hit windows last night, which gave poor Ann and Patty heart attacks. These juvies all have 9 lives. Both are fine and doing good after, like it was a snap! Photo By Patty Looks like a little pooh came out too! Lucky!!! Well, I guess it scared the pooh out of her! This is what happens when 2 juvies are playing and food is involved. Amora ended up with the food after this hit! Ohh, these kids!
