Maybe Beauty is smarter than we think and knows that's how to keep Archer at home 

that is what I was thinking.

In all seriousness, she's probably on full alert watch for Unity to come back, since Archer did such a #$%% poor job of keeping her away.

Typically, females fight other females, and males fight other males, so it would probably be Beauty's responsibility to keep Unity away, rather than Archers.  In fact, since Archer is Unity's mate, it may be that he's not opposed to her entering into the Times Square territory.

To me it sounds more like Archer vocalizing nearby off camera.

Maybe he was giving his new Harley a test spin.

I'm wondering where they were-- is that floor the one that has kind of a walk around where people used to stand.  It looks like a kind of landing.  

It's the 18th floor.  The top couple of floors have balconies that can be used for emergency evacuations if needed.  Other than that they are rarely accessed.

Is that blood on Unity?

There are a lot of compression artifacts in the images which make for plenty of chromatic aberrations and overall softness.  I wouldn't rely on them for any detailed examination, especially if you're looking for dark blood against dark feathers.  Our best source of information about Unity's appearance and health will be the watchers out at Kodak Park.

I'd think Kodak Tower would be part of Beauty's half of the territory, so she was defending her nest.  Unity needs to stay in her half...maybe she didn't realize where the line is.

My thoughts exactly.  I'd guess that Unity was ranging a little too far south and that her aunt decided to teach her where the line is.  Good news is that both falcons appear to have emerged unscathed from their little Donnybrook.

Last visit to the nest by Archer.

I'm a little concerned why they haven't been around. No falcons in the area according to MAK earlier. Anyone have any ideas as to this behavior? She's due for egg #2.....like NOW! Hope there's no  problems.

We don't have enough experience with Beauty and/or data on her egg laying habits to make any firm estimates of when the next egg might come. The weather is warm here today so no real need for the adults to stick close to the nest.

Both Archer and Beauty were at the nest briefly just before 8AM, bowing.

 Looks like a RTH to me.

Is the new cam 1 mounted higher than the old one?  It might just be a difference in the zoom/angle, just seems to catch more of the arena

Yes it is Ei.  We moved it back and higher.

The new position gives us a full view of the top of the nest box, a better (though still shallow) angle into the box itself and a better view of the area on the south side of the nest box.

I'm pretty sure Shaky has it set-up to tape.  I contacted Jim P and he was at the Camera controls.  Pretty exciting!

That's what one of the Kodak folks on the 16^th floor of the Kodak Tower thought when they saw this visitor...

Not a falcon, but it's nice to know the tower folks are still on the lookout!

These are perhaps the most spectacular hummingbird photos I've ever seen...makes we want to hang up my camera permanently!

Really beautiful shots.  The don't make me want to put down my camera, they make me want to get better with it.

I suspect the photographer was using a really long telephoto lens, maybe a 500mm f2.8 to get such nicely blurred backgrounds.  I'd love to know what the lighting conditions were like.  It looks like bright natural light, but some of the shots look like a point light source such as a flash might have been used.  Whatever he did, he did it right!

Ei, I found (quite through trial and error), that you can drag the enlarged image down to where you can see it.

Yep, after displaying the larger image just move your mouse cursor on top of it.  The cursor will change shape into a "move" cursor with 4 directional arrows.  Then you can click and drag the image to view different parts of it.  There's an "x" in the upper right corner of the large image which you can click to close it.
