Latest E8 update..good news!

E8 UPDATE: #E8 continues to improve since having surgery on May 14 to repair a broken femur in the right leg.  The eaglet is perching, vocalizing and gaining strength. Over the weekend E8 ate a little on his own but still requires some assistance during feeding.  Blood work came back normal and this week the eaglet is expected to be moved to an outside enclosure where it will have more room to build its strength and spread its wings.

Thanks for the snack, Dad!

Do you think Mom saw him?

I'm not sure. Let's just act like nothing happened.

We were discussing on the live stream whether Leo is the youngest. The question came up whether yellow feet (Leo) was the last to develop a mask.

I buzzed through some photos I had saved...I'd say yellow feet (Leo) has more of a mask in this one than the girl in back with her mouth open.

And this one 2 days later I would say the youngest is the girl in front of Leo, both by mask and wing feather length.

Based on current fluff loss/feather development I think the youngest is Aria. My personal suspicion is Matilda is the eldest, Leo & Lilac are a toss up-they hatched a few hours apart, then Aria.

I always thought it was a blue foot that was youngest.

Male-Chris

Chris is the new male this year, just recently lost his right leg (story on website) but continues to help take care of their family.

Bruce has ID'd the new Burlington Lift Bridge female with DC's brother - there is a Rochester connection too as she is Beauty's niece!!  Her mother Hathor is Beauty's full sister (for those who don't know)

New Burlington Lift Bridge Female Identified
May 29, 2016 - Burlington - Lift Bridge
Tracy Simpson Reports:

A big thank you to Bruce Massey for spending the weekend chasing the identity of the new female on site. He was able to get a clear scope read today of her black over red 68/U band with a silver USFW. She is Jo from the Macomb County nest site in Michigan hatched in 2014 to Nick and Hathor.  What is quite exciting is that her father, Nick, is the offspring of Miriam, a 2003 release in Richmond Hill conducted by the CPF.

Great job Bruce and we will continue to watch for a hatch.

That's cool!

A little bit of alone time away from the kids Smiley

That's just plain weird.. stupid

Why? I suspect they've been going over there all along but no one ever saw them there. It took Cadence going over there to get everyone watching over there!
I think it's cool.  Kind of makes me think that now that Pigott is gone Beauty and Dot.ca's bond is stronger than I thought. And yes, all thanks go to Cadence for fledging over there.

They've got 4 kids in one box, neither has an eye on them, and they're bonding in another box? Yes, I think that's very strange.

Update from CROW:

E8 UPDATE: E8 continues to be bright, alert, responsive and using the right leg in a normal fashion.  The eaglet is being fed whole prey items such as mice and chicks, but is not eating on its own and requires assisted feedings of fish fillets. E8 continues to gain weight and currently weighs a little over 8 lb.

The next update will be this Tuesday when E8 is scheduled for radiographs (x-rays) and blood work.  We will also be answering some of your questions next week regarding leg banding and how to identify E8's gender.

Below is a video of E8 receiving wound care earlier this week.
Again, thank you for your continued support and donations.
