From C&C's FB page: Body of the Terminal Tower's Boomer Found: RIP to Boomer, a handsome, steady, and reliable mate and a part of the TT's magnificent peregrine legacy! As we all suspected when a new male appeared at the TT nest tray in place of Boomer this summer, Boomer met his demise. We can only speculate that he was likely killed in a territory battle, possibly having battled the current resident tiercel at the site, Stacker, who has paired with Newton since June. Laurie Graber from DOW informed us that Boomer's body was found on the Rockefeller Building, which is a few blocks to the northwest of the Terminal Tower. Boomer is deserving of a much more complete tribute, but for now we'll post this pic of Boomer when he was resting comfortably at the tray with one eye shut and one of his molted primaries propped up beside him... Just read this on FB. I didn't know he had been missing and another tiercel had been with Newton..very sad but glad they found him for closure. Fly free, Boomer!

From Statler City FB page: We have some sad news to report from our friends at the NY State Department of Environmental Conservation "The resident adult male Peregrine Falcon at the Statler was found injured on the roof of the Ride Aid on Pearl Street on Friday, 9/4, with a broken wing. They suspect he may have been there for two days, in the heat, before he was found. The Erie Co. SPCA responded and took him in for treatment, but the bones in his wing were beyond repair. He is non-releasable at this point. When he is well enough, he will be transferred to a wildlife rehabilitation/education facility. So, sadly, he will be out of the wild. His name is “Ojibwa” and he was hatched at the Landmark Building in Akron, OH in May 2003. When he arrived at the Statler in 2008, at 5 years old, he was identified by his leg bands. He has been the resident male ever since, producing 29 young falcons with his mate (a non-banded female) in his 8 years as the resident male. I’ve attached a couple photos of him from the past few years. He was a good falcon dad, and he’ll be missed. Hopefully, it will not take long for the female to find a new mate. Buffalo lies along a major migration route, and she should have no trouble attracting someone new. If you notice a second bird hanging around, please let us know. It would be good to know when a new male arrives."

I remember saying to Tracy and Rob that I thought Frank might actually be Frankie because he/she was almost the size of O'Connor the last time I saw him. He came back home in late August after I hadn't seen him for a few weeks and he was crying for food and I thought ..oh no..he is having trouble hunting. O'Connor spent so much time with him/her then showing him how to hunt. I used to come into work in the morning and I'd see them perched side by side on the Moneris sign and one day he was just gone and I was so worried. But I see I had no reason now to worry at all, he's done good and OC's dedication to him/her has paid off So happy for you, Carly!
