From the blog today:

We are delighted to announce that at 5.38am this morning the resident male returned to the nest at Loch of the Lowes. Having been observed fishing on the loch the previous night, he arrived back at the eyrie in the early hours and immediately began housekeeping duties. He left at 6.18am and has since reappeared briefly at the nest at 7.28am.

We will be releasing a full statement and pictures later on today – in the meantime keep your eyes peeled on the web cam for more osprey action!

Hoping Lady will arrive soon  . . .

She does have beautiful coloring. Some years, her chest colors have been quite tannish.

The Hawks decided to nest this year at the 2012 site so people there have been scrambling to get the cameras relocated too..they're up and running!

There is no end to the persecution of these beautiful birds, and in fact it seems to be getting worse.

It is sickening.

I can tell you that the bird who was shot was not one of the Derby pair.

Here is a pic I saved from the webcam on March 14. Both birds were at the nest at the same moment, one on each side of the nest.

The Owl is placed in a big gage , next to a female owl.They think it's a male.It's easy to feed him.so they think he is set free illegal with the bands removed.An expert will take DNA and search for a chip.That can take a few weeks.
