I removed my post! Sorry, wrong thread!!  stupid

That's OK..just didn't want anybody to think it was Wisdom. So hoping she has a hatch this year.

This isn't Wisdom though..I haven't heard that she has a hatch yet.  Wisdom is nesting on the Midway Atoll..this is Malumalu, who nests on Kauai, who had a hatch this AM.

We have a Nuthatch that will come to the suet feeder..always eats a few pieces for itself then gets a big chunk in its beak before flying up to a large tree on our neighbor's lot.  This is repeated several times a day.

Aconcagua was banded as a male, but was obviously a female.  She was the youngest (just a small white fluff ball) when banded and grew to be the largest that year before leaving Rochester.  She will forever be listed as a male on the official list, unless she turns up somewhere in the future.  Most they get right, some they get wrong.   Wink

I knew there was another one famously obviously mis-banded, just couldn't remember who.

And I seem to recall we were pretty sure Jemison was female too.

I thought it was the other way around..Jemison was banded female, thought to be male.
2409  Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: Bird Carvings at downtown Library on: 28-Jan-15, 04:13:08 PM
It's directly across South Avenue from the Rundell Library, Kris.  Southeast corner of South Avenue and Broad Street.

Thanks, Pat.  There's a Tim Horton's that you have to go through first?

What a gift he has..stunning & so life-like!  I wonder Shaky's pics are all miniatures or full size.

I think it's a mixture of both.

Yep.

Where is this library located?

Oh no!  None of them hatched?  Reminds me of 2011 with Beauty and Archer.

Their egg didn't hatch last year either..kind of sad for them.  Some say age could be a factor..have to see when they candle them if they weren't fertile, just like last year.

Update posted on their FB page today about egg status:   Sad

Hello, eagle friends. Derek and I wanted to let you know that it looks like our keepers will remove the eggs tomorrow. The plan is to examine them to try and determine what might have happened this year. They also might replace the eggs with dummy ones for a week or two so that we won't want to reclutch this year. This is good, because we are kind of tired of sitting on eggs and need to get back to living life in the eagle aviary. There are also plans in the works to talk with some other folks that watch wild cams or who breed bald eagles to understand what their experience might be. We'll try to keep you posted with information that is relevant. If you have any questions, we'll do one last Ask the Eagle Expert this week on Wednesday at 10 am (tomorrow) right here with Natalie Childers, our favorite programs director.

NE got hit though!

Cheaters never prosper. Two feet of karma in your driveway can't feel good. Talk about deflated balls.

2415  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Quest (2008) and Skye - Toronto/Don Mills on: 26-Jan-15, 08:31:39 PM
Quest is at the nest again today.  She was there for over 3 hours yesterday. I wonder if she is peotecting her nest or trying to entice a mate?? Started watching today again at 11AM.

This is one cam I can't get at work.  Hopefully everything was fine and Quest was just keeping out of the blistering cold and keeping warm.

There's a video on BCAW, that was posted Jan. 19th, that shows Quest in the nest box and a tiercel interacting with her.  It looked like they were kind of bowing until he hopped into the box..then it looked like she might have squawked at him and he got out fast.  I wonder if Skye migrated and Lucky is making a move?
