Could be DC is back to his old habits of 2 timing Beauty with a juvie. Was that a female juvie you saw at BS Joyce? Pigott was a juvie when she came to town with DC. Hmm... She had tweeted it was a small juvie Falcon. I hope he's not up to his old tricks when things have been going so well DT with B. I hope not too Kris, but ya just never know. There's so much that we don't see. That's for sure!

An excerpt from a 5/31/09 falcon watch report by me. It seems that Dot.ca isn't the only falcon that likes to snatch a mate's meal. 7:35 pm - Back to Midtown. Now this was a little crazy to watch. Archer came in with a Starling sized, headless bird clutched in his talons. He landed on Midtown and started to pluck feathers. Beauty wanted the food. She flew to him, expecting him to hand it over. Nope! Archer grabbed the food and landed on top of Midtown, plucking again. Beauty tried again, Archer took off with the food. This went on for quite awhile.
7:54 pm - Archer finally lands with the prey on the NE corner of the lower section of Midtown, very close to the nest ledge. Beauty landed next to him and FINALLY snagged her dinner.
8:02 pm - Beauty took the prey to the B&L building and enjoyed her meal. Archer took over on the nest ledge, jumping down into the gutter. This was during the time that Archer and Beauty were hanging out on Midtown Plaza and Mariah was still at Kodak Office. - Carol P.

Fantastic news. And a huge thank you to the secret owners of the land - bless you for supporting them! After I read this on FB last night, I was so happy to finally hear some good news about Dad Norfolk and his mate. I, also, thank the landowners who are supporters of the Eagles and EOA and all they've done and are doing to prevent further harassment of these birds.

A Funny Memory from the old Kodak Birdcam days.....I forget what year it was, but it was before the old KFalconcam forum or this one existed. It was during the time that there was a discussion board on the Kodak Birdcam. Jim P and I were co-moderators of that board. One day, something really funny happened. For some reason, the discussion board decided to post EVERYONE's posts under Jim's name. Suddenly Jim P became quite chatty. Later that day, all the posts came in with my name on them. Somehow that wasn't as hysterical as Jim posting that the falcon eyases were soooooo cute! Hahaha! Does anyone else remember that? Just a fond memory of the old M&K days. That's funny! Whatever happened to Jim? Haven't seen him on anything in quite a few years. Jim's life got busy and took another direction. His contributions are definitely missed. I've gone to his Peregrinations site and all his beautiful Falcon pics are gone..that's really sad.

Good news! Thanks Pat!
Was there ever an update on what happened with E3?
Here's the update, Carol: CornellHawks E3 Update, September 23, 2014
We're happy to update you that in the three months since #E3's injury in June, he has continued to heal steadily under the expert care of veterinarians and staff at the Janet L. Swanson Wildlife Health Center, and he has spent the last few weeks in rehabilitation with the Cornell Raptor Program, directed by Dr. John Parks.
Dr. Parks reports that aside from the wing fracture, E3 is in good health overall. Because of his young age, he has adjusted fairly quickly to his new aviary. He seems quite comfortable and often lies down on a shelf at his window to sun. His injured wing is held a little abnormally, with the shoulder slightly elevated when perched. To help E3 gain as much use of the wing as possible, the Raptor Program has been encouraging him to extend his wing and fly across the aviary multiple times a day, offering a gloved hand garnished with food. E3 can now fly 10-12 feet. This distance may improve with time, but the prognosis is very poor for him to regain enough flight to sustain himself in the wild. We realize this will come as sad news to those of you who have followed E3's story since the beginning.
The good news is that E3 has adjusted well to life at the Cornell Raptor Program, where he has bonded with his caregivers, and the Wildlife Health Center will continue to provide medical care and follow-up as needed. Given the circumstances, both the Wildlife Health Center and Cornell Lab of Ornithology are delighted that the Raptor Program has agreed to keep E3 as an education bird. He will begin appearing in public education programs around the community beginning this fall. We will keep you posted about E3's activities and progress. Bittersweet but he's in good hands!

An update from the Wildlife Center today on the little Richmond juvie:
October 16, 2014
Peregrine Falcon #14-1319 continues to do very well with her training. Amanda and Raina are working with the falcon daily, although the bird now spends a significant amount of time in her outdoor enclosure. She still readily flies to the glove when Amanda or Raina ask her to.
While work with the bird will continue over the next few weeks, both Amanda and Raina agree that this has been an amazingly fast training and assessment period for the falcon. With achievements made to date, it's time to declare the Peregrine Falcon as the newest official member of the Outreach Team.
The last step – choosing a name – will take place in a few weeks at the Wildlife Center’s annual gala on November 1. There, the naming rights for the Peregrine Falcon will be auctioned off in the Center’s live auction. Stay tuned for more information, including how you can place an absentee bid on this incredible honor!
While this is not the life she should have had, I think she can still have a good life and that she will be a wonderful ambassador for raptors.
Great news and she'll have a great life at WCV! Can't wait to hear what her chosen name will be!
