Despite the fact that the pairs first clutch of eggs had earlier failed,,, there is no reason to stop trying,, and so it is for the Scarborough Milner nest pair!
Today’s check-in visit yielded some very good news indeed with presence of a second clutch of 4 eggs!! Yeeee gads …. we’re going to doing fledge watches and bandingss all summer long!!! Stay tuned, as it would seem that Linn and her mate is not quitters!!

On Saturday, June 1st, personnel from DEC and NYS Thruway Authority teamed up to band Peregrine Falcon chicks under the North Grand Island bridge. The eyasses (falcon chicks), about 20 days old, are given leg bands (photo 1), a health assessment (photo 2) and returned to the nest box. The female Peregrine, named Terrazzo, waits for her chicks to return to the nest (photo 3). Terrazzo was banded at the Central Train Terminal building in Buffalo in 2014. Dad, an unbanded bird, watches from a nearby perch under the bridge (photo 4). 📷: David Denk Terrazzo, daughter of DiamantĂ© and Gleig

I’m pleased to report that the three San Jose, California Peregrine young have successfully fledged! It was cold and rainy for the five days I was there, but it didn’t bother the falcons in the least. We have one female and two males: Annikah,12/AM (left leg) Red tape (right leg) FEMALE. Cesar, U/38 (right leg) Blue tape (left leg) MALE. For Cesar Chavez, the great labor activist & civil rights leader in California. Naji, U/33 (left leg) Silver (right leg) MALE. Naji means “Survivor” in Arabic. Here is a link to the banding video: https://vimeo.com/334361033This nest box is on top of the HVAC column on the south side of City Hall. The only way for humans to access it is to rappel down from the roof, so the young are banded on the spot. The bander is Zena Gluck, PhD., our new wildlife biologist from U.C. Santa Cruz, who is taking over for Glenn Stewart, who has done this for so many years and is retiring. He was on the roof top to guide Zena, and everything went great! Here also is a link to the website of professional wildlife photographer Nick Dunlop, who was also on the roof. https://www.nickdunlop.com/Image-Galleries/2019-Photos/2019-San-Jose-Falcons-Banding-Day/Cesar is the leader and explorer, the first one to do everything. He fledged on May 17, with the other two following in the next two days. As they are flying around downtown San Jose now, our watching thru the web cam rarely reveals a falcon in view, as it should be. I miss seeing them, though! Our forum moderator, Paula A. checks regularly, and posts to the forum if any of them are in view of the cam. Best wishes to all in Rochester, and May your fledging be as successful! Debbie Z Reno Thanks for posting! Great names..may they fly high and stay safe!

Lucie and I went out to visit Aria today. Sadly she only has one egg left, which we confirmed when there was a shift change, that they are both incubating diligently. Spoke to some of the watchers there and there was 2 a few days ago but it seems another was removed. It's been about 41 days already so we were hoping that they would have hatched by now.
She is nesting on a ledge though and most of our ledge nests have failed this Spring due to the cold, the rain and the damp weather.
I was hoping for better news for you all and for her and Indy. On the plus side, they are both still there and doing well.
That’s so sad..was thinking about her today. Thanks for checking on her.
