It is with particular joy that I announce first hatch at King Street! Erin and Windwhistler are both 16 years old this year and are without a doubt a very special pair!
Thank you to DEF from BCAW for catching the first hatch! DEF also said that Windwhistler was so excited that he came in with food twice in 10 minutes for the baby!

Xi Lan and Po left for Chengdu yesterday and this was posted today:
Zoo Atlanta Update on giant pandas Xi Lan and Po Journey is going smoothly for China-bound bears Giant pandas Xi Lan, 5, and Po, 3, are doing well as they continue their journey across the globe to their new home in China. The bears were scheduled to arrive at their first Asian destination -- Inchon, South Korea -- around 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time today. Zoo Atlanta Associate Veterinarian Sam Rivera, DVM, and Kenn Hardwood, Lead Keeper of Carnivores, have accompanied Xi Lan and Po on the trip. Rivera and Harwood have reported that the giant pandas have been relatively unfazed by the long flight, and both are eating and drinking normally and behaving calmly. The group is expected to depart Inchon around 9:15 a.m. Eastern Standard Time tomorrow, arriving in Chengdu around 1:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Rivera and Harwood will remain with Xi Lan and Po long enough to help the bears get settled into their new environment at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Additional updates will be provided as they are available.

After you posted this AM about Luzerne Co. PA, I googled it and it came up about a banding at a cliff nest last year and I wondered if she might have been one of them. Guess a name for her is in order too! Thanks, Donna and Tracy for all your efforts...they paid off!
