Oh good...Mommy's still there!

Aren't they the cutest?

Huddled away from that bad door!  Remember in 2010 when the door opened after the banding and DEC had already left?  We were all having a stroke until it was closed!

Some of you may be wondering about the occasional reference to the other Baron.

Back in 2008 we had a photo scavenger hunt. The pictures needed to be made into a story album featuring Baron von Pefa.

This is my Baron von Pefa. He still rides with me everywhere in my car.

I still have mine -sits on my china hutch.

This morning at least 2 eyas were heard calling. Possibly all 3. And the parents were flying in with food to feed them. It is still possible all of them are okay. Only time will tell.

Now that's a miracle!!  pray

DEC projected Buffalo fledge dates

Quote
CT- 6/17 (but I see that our little male already fledged! Cool!)
N. Bridge - 6/19
Statler - 6/21
UB - 6/23
NF - 6/25

But obviously there is some wiggle room with males maybe going early like at CT and bigger females going later. But those are the estimated dates I'm working off of.

CT girls still hanging tight! If they wait much longer, they should be able to fledge all the way to Rochester!

I wish SOMEONE would tell us if they will be banded, and when.  Has anyone been in touch with the DEC and/or June Summers?  I think at least the watchers have a right to know this.

I sent a PM to Carol a while ago expressing my concerns too.  The window to band is said to be between 22-27 days of age and Orion was banded at 23 days old. Many members are getting concerned that banding may not take place and there's also a concern that the eyasses are starting to explore outside the box. Can one of the Mods, Administrators, June Summers give members of the Forum an answer as to what's going on so we don't have to continue worrying about what might or might not happen?

I received word last night (just read it now) that the banding will take place in the next day or two. We don't know if it's this afternoon (Tuesday) or tomorrow morning (Wednesday).

Thanks so much!

Wasn't sure where to put this but when C & C have news, which is a lot lately, it's about other nests too, so I figured I'd give them their own thread, like the Canada falcons!  wave Yeah-No?

OK with me. I just thought that with talk about Mystic, Mo, loss of Ice being on the Canton thread, it would show some continuity of the subject if this was included on there. No problem.

If you watched the video, the eyasses were constantly shaking their heads and scratching themselves like they were being bitten continuously.  It was so sad to see them fall.  Sad

Sorry to report, but more difficult news about the Canton site. DOW's Laurie passed along this e-mail from another DOW officer who picked up Sketch Sunday night after he was found dead by the Canton PD. This is all we know so far, so here's a copy of the message to Laurie:

"Canton PD called Sunday around 7 PM stating a falcon had died.

I picked up the falcon and will bring it to the D 3 office on Monday and drop off some other paperwork.

The band #'s are: Purple 1126-14261 37 R"

Sketch was the first to fledge, and Ice was the second. Now there are only two juvies left. Unfortunately, even after they make it past fledging there are so many other dangers out there, and as they start to chase and hunt they enter another risky stage.

RIP Sketch (and again, sorry Canton friends and all fellow peregrine fans)!

 Sad So sad!

This is so sad to hear. Poor Mystic was doing such a great job with the fledglings by herself without Mo. Fly free, young Sketch.  sorrow

(This should be merged with the subject-Welcome to city's newest residents in Canton)

Thought you guys would be interested in seeing an up-close pic of our first fledgling: Kimani! She came to the ground at lunch today and a couple of Harlequin employees located her and Kathy (or Cathy?) from the CPF came along with her towel and gloves and scooped her up. Mark Nash came out and we checked her out for injuries. She seems ok! They'll attempt to get her situated on top of her building, or the Harlequin building later this afternoon/evening. Excitement!

Here's a link to the photo I just took of Mark holding her:

Thanks, Kat!  Wow! First fledge for Quest!  Hope she does OK and that they all stay safe!

HAMILTON 6-15-13 ...

I never saw anything like this! So cute Biggie/smalls!!

I think Biggie is like a surrogate to Tiny-some of the pics on BCAW show Tiny cuddling up to Biggie like a child to its mother.  Really cute!

Banding Day report is finally up on the CPF site!

Wonder what the meanings are behind the names and who named them? Gurdy or Gerty?
