Such wonderful news about Haya's release! I hope she will always fly in safe skies from now on, and will have a long and successful life.
New updates from the Yahoo group:
Monday after release:
It went well! She flew to a pole and parked for three hours to preen and look around in the sunshine. Finally, she launched into flight and went--possibly a mile--to land on the top of a high voltage tower. She really looked great and I have high hopes for her. She knows what it takes to make it out there and has made a good recovery. I was glad to be able to witness the release today. And yes, she is wearing my bands so we have a chance of getting long-term info on her. In the short term, Jim, who handled her for the past year, put a transmitter on her (the same one she has been wearing during falconry conditioning) so we will get about ten days information... if Jim can continue to find her and if the radio stays on and keeps working. --glenn@scpbrg
Tuesday afternoon:
She is doing great. After spending the night on a high voltage tower, she is tearing up downtown Richmond in pursuit of pigeons. More later on the Stewartfalcon.Wordpress blog. --glenn@scpbrg
Thanks for the post-release follow up! Glad things went well!

Just read this by Donna Hayes: Lindsay McKenna has written a very special new book called THE DEFENDER, which we will publish in December and which features our very own Harlequin the Peregrine Falcon, along with some other very special characters, both birds and human. Lindsay is not only a wonderful writer, she is also an amazxing wildlife photographer and has a special place in her heart for birds of prey.
Yes and Ann Brokelman is in it too!! http://lindsaymckenna.com/2012/10/the-defender-november-2012/ After Donna saw the videos, she sent me an email telling me I had to connect with Ann Brokelman, a professional Canadian wildlife photographer. I did, and the rest was history! Coming soon!! I got the book as soon as I could find in when it was released last month. Finished it in 3 days and I have to say it is awesome!!! Since it is a suspense romance novel, there is a nice main storyline it in. But what i enjoy most is the writing on the raptors and the description of how a raptor centre is being run. An yes, Donna, Quest and Harlequin's names all made into the storyline. Lindsay McKenna's writing of the raptor characters are just beautiful Thanks so much for the review, I'll download it to my Kindle! Good to know! I have to finish the current book I'm reading then will start this one!

I've been to Connecticut, back home, left eye hemorrhaging and emergency surgery, then sent to Buff Gen for other problem and admitted! Got out next night but today is the first day I've been out with the camera for a week. Donna saw I posted a shot of Diamante and Gleig on FBPP and reminded me to post it on Diamante's thread here, thank you Donna! And here is BB at UB, University of Buffalo, sitting on the perch. I am not sure if Yankee has left but we haven't seen him lately. Sorry about all your health problems but good to hear you're out and about again, Sage! I didn't realize Yankee migrated. DC appears to have left too-no sightings in a month. Strange how some do and some don't.
