Passed by Yellow Pages Sunday, nothing in sight. Today after a few hours at Rosetta - I stopped by DVP/Eglinton and saw the female (my guess) hanging out in the B in Bank, 2 turkey vultures flew by and I expected a chase - but i guess she was nicely tucked in and couldn't be bothered ! From there, I went to Harlequin and not a falcon in sight ! Work currently being done at the nest building - 220 Duncan Mill Road From Patty Gale Quest was at the box yesterday-antenna still on. Pic posted on BCAW.

Next to the pic it says it was taken on Feb. 25, 2006. Under the pic it says-
"Here is a composite picture made from 2 pictures from the same day. Kaver is on the left, Mariah right. There is quite a size difference between the two. Note: Rhea Mae now has 3 eggs."
No idea why Flickr is showing an impossible date. Rhea Mae wasn't even hatched yet February 2006. It looks like the date stamp on the picture is April 5, 2008 09:51 According to my notes notes Rhea Mae's 1st nesting season was 2008-and she laid her 3rd egg that year on April 5. On the photostream, it says the pic was uploaded on April 5, 2008.

nyc, can't see the date to well, it says Apr 5 (?) but the pic on her flicker says it was taken feb of 2006!
Umm, in Feb, there are no eggs!
I'd guess the original was in April 2005 then & she did the composite in winter 2006. Next to the pic it says it was taken on Feb. 25, 2006. Under the pic it says- "Here is a composite picture made from 2 pictures from the same day. Kaver is on the left, Mariah right. There is quite a size difference between the two. Hey you guys, a huge thank you!!!! The on-line voting determined the top eight dogs to be voted on at the doings at the Lions. At that point the dogs that got the top three amounts in $ for votes won. Billy Bob came in first on-line AND at the function!! We appreciate you helping out on this, it was fun! Glad we could help! Congrats!

Some infos about this bird:
Magnificent Bird-of-paradise
The Magnificent Bird-of-paradise, Cicinnurus magnificus is a small, up to 26 cm-long, bird-of-paradise with extremely complex plumage. The male has seemingly incandescent yellow wings, an iridescent-green breast shield, blue feet, and is adorned with a yellow mantle on its neck. It has two long, curved, blue-green sickle-like tail feathers. The female is a comparatively drab olive-brown bird with black-barred buffy underparts. It lays two creamy yellow eggs.
The Magnificent Bird-of-paradise is distributed amongst the hill and mid-mountain forests of New Guinea and surrounding islands. Its diet consists mainly of fruits. Like most members of the Paradisaeidae family, the male is polygamous and performs an elaborate courtship display.
A widespread and common species throughout its large range, the Magnificent Bird-of-paradise is evaluated as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. It is listed on Appendix II of CITES.
Thanks for finding the info on this beautiful bird, Annette! Great find, Donna! Beautiful bird!
