From the Peregrine Falcon Reintroduction FB page about Journey (Madness)-they kept her new name! July 23
We received our 20th bird from Ohio on Friday and she is in the boxes awaiting release. This bird is a special bird as she was recovered from a wild nest after loosing her family to a territory dispute. Her siblings and mother were killed by a new female taking over the nest. It is a sad story, but we are glad to have this amazing bird and she will get another chance in the wild! She has been appropriately named by her rescuers, "Journey", as her life journey has been tough so far.
Aug. 11
It's our last release day for the 2012 reintroduction. Three will be released: 2 were released previously but were grounded and spent time recuperating. Our newest bird is Journey, a rescued peregrine fledgling from Ohio. Keep checking in on the webcam over the to see all our free-flyers who are coming back to the release sight on occassion (some are still daily). Only a month or two before they start their migration south.

Zena, Pale Male's mate, has been missing for 2 weeks and Lincoln Karim fears that she is dead. The last time she was seen, she was watching her sick baby in a nearby tree. 2 of PM's babies are at WINORR suffering from secondary rodenticide poisoning and PM's life could be in jeopardy as he's been seen the past few days eating rats from the same area where the rat poison is being used. Please consider signing the petition that Lincoln has posted on his website to see if the deaths of these Hawks from secondary rodenticide poisoning can be stopped: http://www.palemale.com/

The Root Beer girls, Alfreda and Wagner, are doing great at Central Terminal! A shot from the other day...I forgot to repost some to FBPP today! They uploaded to ~Sage~ Since the colored tape has come off both, I can't ID them. They were very high! So glad the girls are doing well! Nice pics!

Posted as part of a response on another red-tail fledgling rescue...
~~~~~~~~
The 2 palemale offspring are doing better and are now outside in a flight cage. The first one rescued is much improved and alert and flying well while its sibling , the second one is still not quite right appearing lethargic and sleepy at times. It was about 5 days longer in the park without medication so hopefully just needs some more time to catch up.
That's good to hear-hopefully #2 will continue to improve. Thanks, Ei!
Bill and I had a great time at the watchers gathering today! There were about 27 of us plus the star of the show -Orion! He spent quite a bit of time with us relaxing on Mercury-right above us on the building next to the park. He did some flying to TS and down onto the nest box platform and even into the box! We also got to see DC a couple times too-Beauty was on OCSR. Great time with good friends (old and new), plenty of good food and Falcons!
New update on S2 (translated by Alison-posted on BCAW)-
The peregrine S2
Gemert, Friday, August 3, 2012
It is getting close, in the coming weeks we will be preparing S2 for her return to the wild!
She has not yet completely finished her molt, but she is ready. Soon she will have her "anklets" fitted, leather straps around her legs.
Jesses will be passed through the anklets so that the falconer can tame the falcon. He will do this by teaching her to take prey while on the glove. If she does reasonably well, she will go to another falconer who will continue her training in order to bring her into good condition so that she can capture prey on her own. She is expected to be ready for release at the end of September or early in October. We will contact you over the next while through this website to keep you informed of her progress.
