After kicking her off around noon, DC did it again! B started alarm-calling around 3:07, but evidently it should be annoyed-calling. He flew in to the top of the nest box, and she didn't budge. So, with her still yelling at him, he bowed from the front perch. That didn't work. So, with his cheery, cheeky chirps, he came into the nest box, and gently kicked her out. She proceeded to the front perch, still yelling at him, while he settled down on the eggs, and then she flew away still grumbling. (movie) It's amazing how pleased with himself he can look! He's got this down! DC is a very cheeky falcon!

I saw the photo of the kittens at the Cathedral of Learning (May 24). As an alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh, I am disgusted by Pitt's inappropriate encouragement of cat breeding.
Cats are vicious creatures that kill for a living. Because of them, squirrels are no longer seen outside the main library in Oakland or about the Pitt campus. Those cats are also responsible for killing native songbirds. I much prefer robins, wrens, bluejays and cardinals to cats, which will also eat puppies and falcons.
Predatory cats have no proper place in urban areas, and institutions of higher learning do not have a legitimate concern with encouraging their breeding.

Another whack-a-doo!

The only good shot of Beauty's foot today. That is a good picture of Beauty's foot. I've added it to the pics to send to the DEC next week. Thanks Donna! Is the DEC, Vets, anyone communicating to anyone here what they think about the infection in Beauty's foot-how they think it looks, going to medicate or wait to see if the infection worsens? This update was posted on Imprints. A Quick Update (5/30/12): As requested, we will be sending pictures of Beauty’s injured foot to Barbara Loucks of the NYS DEC weekly. This is so she will be able to share the pics with their vet, showing the progress of the injury. We sent some pictures last night (5/29/12) and have already received a response back from Barbara stating that their vet did not think it looked significantly different. We will continue to send pictures weekly to the DEC so that they may continue to monitor the progression of Beauty’s injury. Missed the update. Thanks.

Dr. Eubie Claw (female, blue tape) Feather Locklear (female, white tape) Talon Alda (male, yellow tape) Lancelot (male, green tape, fitted with GPS tracking device to help the DEC learn more about Peregrine falcons and help protect this endangered species.)
Thought the female had the transmitter on! This says the male!! I'm confused!!
Sage's FB page says Athena (formerly Eubie), the largest female, has the transmitter.

One good thing about the bizarre weather-my Peace roses managed to bloom before the Japanese beetles got them for the first time ever! And the House Finches have fledged their first clutch of the season! Too dark to get a pic of the babies, but Dad was showing them how to land and eat from my feeders! I love the Peace Rose-your flowers are just beautiful! I had one many years ago at another home I lived in and we decided to buy a new bush this year-my first flower just opened today. Love your birdies too!
