Maybe a watcher would share the story of Jemison, firstborn son (banded female but thought to be male) of Beauty and Archer, who was rescued not once but twice. And Callidora, his dominating sister! Who could forget her first flight! I still laugh thinking about how she flapped and flapped as she paced back and forth on the nest box roof. When she finally took off, she dropped straight down! As first-time parents, Beauty and Archer did a great job with these two. It was just sad that Jemison never really got a chance to fly the skies with his parents and sister but thankfully he was releasable after his injury and his release video was a thrill for all to watch!

That was the year I started lurking-came in at the end so didn't realize what was going on. Through Carol's stories, I learned that Mariah was hurt and Kaver assumed many roles-provider, nurturer, supportive mate-showing what a special Falcon he was.

December 5 update Change of plans: initially, NX was scheduled for radiographs today to see if a different set of x-rays would reveal the same subtle shoulder fracture that Dr. Dave noted on December 3. After removing NX from her small indoor enclosure for morning treatments, the veterinary team decided to wait until later in the week to perform the radiographs. Since her shoulder is still slightly swollen, Dr. Dave anticipates that a few more days of healing will really enable the team to make a better assessment of the injury.
NX was bright, alert, and feisty when the team cleaned her wounds and administered her medications during morning treatments.

A lost puffin found at a sexual health clinic in Winchester has died.
The male juvenile was found four days ago at Winchester's Royal Hampshire County Hospital cowering at the bottom of a flight of steps.
Jackie Grey of Hart Wildlife Rescue centre said: "Everyone is naturally very upset as he appeared to be doing so well."
It is thought the bird had been blown off course from its first winter migration to the Bay of Biscay.
Mrs Grey said: "I guess it is fair to assume that something must have been wrong with him to cause him to come down in Winchester in the first place."
RSPCA staff picked up the young puffin on Wednesday and described it as "hungry and exhausted".
They transferred him to the Hart Wildlife Rescue centre near Alton.
