Hey MAK! You got your laptop there! Must have a "hot spot" where you are so you can get WiFi! Great! So glad you're going to TCU to get the extra therapy-knew you wanted it and need it and we want you keep to smiling too! Take care!

I'm so happy for her! Unity has a wonderful joint replacement center (I had both my knees done there too) and I've had friends that went to TCU after who've said it's a great rehab facility.

Definately recommend rehab. I was in 10 days with my knee replacement. I also would recommend going to rehab although I didn't go after either knee because my husband was home to help me. He took me to PT 3 times a week for several weeks plus I had a CPM machine at home (Dr. ordered) to exercise the knee for several hrs a day. MAK really wants to go to rehab but her insurance might not OK it. Hope she gets to go.

Hope today MAK is feeling MUCH better! Hopefully the PT isn't too much for her, but sure it will tired her out. Hang in there MAK! This too shall pass, then see if you want to return for more torture! LOL! I've been told people really hesitate to do #2 if #1 was rough! Talking about knees here!! Actually, when I had my first knee done, my husband didn't think he'd ever get me back for the second one because it's a tough rehab. But the wear and tear on the non-operative knee with the first operation made me want to get the second one done which I did 2 months later. It was well worth it having both knees pain free than have one good one and still having pain in the other from the arthritis.

A cute letter from S2 (found on BCAW):
Hi everyone, First I want Caroline Hommers, Riemersma Dirk and asylum keeper to thank for all their care and treatment of my injuries, really great what they do for me. I think all these treatments do not always like this but my recovery is very very good. But I also want to thank you for all your support and sympathy, nice to hear that you like me become healthy again to look back on and around the tower in De Mortel.
Right now I stay at the asylum holder in a larger room, this can I have some more practice with my injured wing. This is very good and easily "fly" I perch on a five-foot height. I can now both wings against my body and keep the same height. Sometimes it a bit because my muscles are very weak, but what I keep practicing, I shake myself and what it feels all right again. I've heard whispers that they will soon see an x-ray and I want to make it into a bigger cage must practice. I understand what they want me back in late December release, but then I still get a falconry show my tricks, I'm sure! The VWG Gemert was reticent about my recovery, stand understandable but I will just show it all right with me and that I am just going to tell Dad that I do not accept his flirtation with OR2. I hope that I a good conversation with Dad and OR2 solve. The tower in De Mortel's my place and I'm not just because I want to drive in 2012, still a few youngsters. Incidentally, I begrudge not OR2 but in a different place!
I'll be VWG Gemert ask if they have some pictures of me and / or to place a movie so you can see how well I'm doing, I'm pretty proud of myself and want to share with you. You will hear from me!
Sincerely,
Peregrine S2
PS The VWG Gemert has over € 1,700.00 received from you and therefore I am very happy! It is my recovery, but also benefit the peregrine falcons and raptors in general. VWG Gemert these funds can pay for my recovery but may also partly contribute to stopping the bird of prey persecution in the municipality of Gemert. The funds provided by you may also be used for operations and those of my Dad around the tower of the mortar you can continue to show.

Keep checking at that link-they've been adding info as it comes in...looks like the one that fell is doing fine. The other one is a bit smaller & is dehydrated...
"Bear cub #11-2531 was the “sleepier” of the two male cubs — still very much feeling the effects of the tranquilizers from yesterday’s rescue. The veterinary team was able to manually capture cub #11-2531, which did make him perk back up and resist capture. The bear was then anesthetized and intubated for further exam. Vets performed a physical examination, drew blood for several different types of diagnostic tests, performed a skin scraping to check for mites, and took radiographs.
While #11-2531 is a little thin and dehydrated, otherwise the cub seems to be healthy. Dr. Miranda Sadar gave the cub intravenous fluids in hopes that some of the additional fluids would help flush yesterday’s tranquilizers from its system. Center vet and rehab staff will monitor the cub closely today. Bear #11-2531 weighed in at 9.48 kgs — almost 21 pounds.
Bear cub #11-2532 is the perkier of the two cubs — despite a 40-foot tumble from a tree during rescue. The veterinary team sedated this cub prior to grabbing it for the physical exam. The same blood draws, skin scraping, and radiographs were performed; fluids were also given. This cub is slightly bigger than his brother and at 10.60 kgs (23.3 lbs), is in slightly better body condition."
Good to hear!

So happy to hear MAK is on the road to recovery! What did she have done to her "foot"? I guess I have been out of the "loop" on this one! Well lots of them probably, but I am trying! You go MAK! I doubt much will keep you down and away from the computer and the falcons and such. Keep up the therapy and do what they tell you to do! She had a total knee replacement.

So glad that you visited her tonight. How long will she be in hospital? It's a good one for joint replacement! Good name too!
Not sure the hospital stay Margaret but she may have to go to PT for a week, which she wants. (You may just see her riding that bike DT to do her watches) She'll be going to PT twice a day while in the hospital-at 9 & 1. I think you meant to say that she wants to be transferred to Unity's Rehab unit for a week after her hospital stay-which is usually 4-5 days. The "group" there decides whether she gets to go to rehab or not depending on if they feel she needs to have more therapy -that's what she told me.
