As promised here is the link to my album from Saturday when I went on a road trip with Joyce to Moravia,NY and met up with KathyO,Dana,Lisa McK and CarolP to find the transmitter of a gull from Montreal. We didn't find it but we had fun anyway stopping in Auburn,NY on the way back for lunch at Hunters Dinerant(an old fashioned diner car) and then on to the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge. It was a great day spent with some special people and wildlife! As always no sign in is required. Enjoy!

Great album, MAK!  You had a wonderful assortment of wildlife to photograph!

Thanks, Ei, for finding this.  I do remember when they posted the picture and I wondered then what was wrong for her to be an educational bird.  She's a beauty!

Johnny the Baptist

Johnny's Mother looked out the window and noticed him "playing church" with their cat.

He had the cat sitting quietly and he was preaching to it. She smiled and went about her work. A while later she heard loud meowing and hissing and ran back to the open window to see Johnny baptizing the cat in a tub of water.

She called out, "Johnny, stop that! The cat is afraid of water!"

Johnny looked up at her and said, "He should have thought about that before he joined my church."

Cute!  clap

I thought Cheyenne was the male?????

If you're thinking of Seneca's former mate, he's in rehab in Ohio.  This Cheyenne is in Canada although I don't know what kind of bird it is or what its problem is.  Maybe someone can enlighten us both!

Well, the CPF education page is a bit outdated-not complaining, mind you-watching over the zillion Toronto birds is certainly priority.  I
don't see Cheyenne there, so I guess she was a more recent arrival than Nova in 2009.

Thanks, Ei-  I thought that you might be the one who knew.  Guess we'll have to wait to see what someone from there says.

We've been really entertained the last couple weeks by several Hummers frequenting our feeder and here's a few pics I've taken of them.

What's that one with the dark head??? So cute, great pics, thanks!!!

They're all Ruby-throated Hummingbirds.  The first pic is a male-they have the red throats and the 3rd pic is a female-no red throat.

I'm jealous again. I have not seen any hummers at my feeders, just bees sucking up the syrup. Thanks.

Glad to share, Bonnie, and sorry you don't have any this year.  They've been really active the past couple weeks-very entertaining especially when they fight over the feeder!

Watch out, Ospreys! MAK's on your track!

Super slide-show - loved that big black butterfly - can anyone ID?

I'm pretty sure it was a Buteous Gigantus Veridarkus Butterfly.

That's what I thought it was too, Carol.   happy
