La Tuque in Haute-Mauricie, 3 hours from Montreal and 3 hours from Quebec City... It seems we have here 2 pairs of falcons at least who nest in cliffs but I haven't seen them.
It would be great to see Falcons in a natural setting. Neil Grubb has posted beautiful videos on here of them on cliffs in Scotland. Hope you get a chance to see yours there!

I received a note from Nicole in Montreal today and it seems that all the females that were banded from the University of Montreal nestbox are now determined to be all males!
10:24 AM 6/11 We now have confirmation that these are 4 males. For those wondering why there was a miscarriage early - like 4 falcons appear to have substantially the same size feet, we had to assume they were of the same sex. David Bird, in his experience, thought it was 4 males, we even tried the male rings on their legs and it seemed well adjusted. But, the weight in grams instead, was telling us little females. In a similar situation, we have no choice but to put rings females, because a ring too small for the falcon's paw cut off circulation and cause him serious problems. Now they have their adult size, we are set!.
The names have been changed to:
Tawodi Rick Eole Altius Congratulations, again!

Oh and Linda would like to know if anyone knows anyone from LAZY BOY that can send up some recliners for them. This waiting is murder on the back!! Thanx! Thank you Jeanne!! Glad they're with someone familiar. Tough that this happened and especially being out of the country!

Ritual to Rhiannon Purpose: To heal grief, loss, or disappointment. To encourage moving forward. Invoke - "We honor Rhiannon who comforts those in crisis and in times of grief and loss. Her sweet song eases us and gives us the closure we need to move on in our lives."
Thank, Ei. I guess I could have looked it up myself. No paperbag, Kris! I was curious too-I only knew of the song! And fitting, I think, for the name of a grandeyas in such a sad year... In reading the description of the name, it is indeed very fitting!

I've seen the name before but have no idea how it's pronounced.
It's most popular from the song by Fleetwood Mac. Just did a quick search & found this: Rhiannon Great Queen of the Celts a project by Rowen Saille © All original material in this site is under copyright protection and is the intellectual property of the author. http://www.orderwhitemoon.org/goddess/Rhiannon.html#top
Origins Rhiannon [RHEE-awn-on] is a Welsh underworld Goddess form. Her story is told in the Mabinogion ( 1 , translation by Lady Charlotte Guest). Her origin goes back further still according to Jean Markale ( 2 ) who believes that she might have been the original Mother Goddess of the Celtic people. She brings sleep, dreams, and sometimes nightmares (3, 4 ). She is found in several ancient cultures, called by several names (3 ). Through history Rhiannon has survived and influenced many cultures and legends. Her name translates as "divine" or "Great Queen." She may have been sun Goddess (3). She is Goddess of change, movement, and magic (3, 4). She comforts in times of crisis, loss, and illness (5). She gives us gifts of tears, forgetfulness (to promote healing), and humor to ease our sufferings in this life (5) and guides us to the next (3, 6). She is also accompanied by golden birds whose singing can call the dead or grant peaceful sleep to the living (4, 5, 6). Ritual to Rhiannon Purpose: To heal grief, loss, or disappointment. To encourage moving forward. Invoke - "We honor Rhiannon who comforts those in crisis and in times of grief and loss. Her sweet song eases us and gives us the closure we need to move on in our lives." Thank, Ei. I guess I could have looked it up myself.
