6198  Rochester Falcons / Falcon Watches / Transmitter Gull on: 15-May-11, 10:28:10 AM
Hi gang,

Remember our falcon watches in Irondequoit this winter while watching the Ibay pefa? Remember the transmitter gull we saw? I couldn't find where Carol P posted the follow-up.  Sorry if this is a repeat, but in case you didn't hear...Carol found out that the transmitter gull made his way home to Montreal at midnight on April 11th.

Actually, I don't think Carol ever told us the gull was from Montreal or posted a follow-up.  The only thing she told us was it "spoke French" or something like that.  Good to know it made its way home!

What a beautiful story!  They are remarkable in their devotion to the family unit-helping each other raise and protect the young and mourning the passing of a member.

Didn't Rhea Mae have a full clutch at 2 years old?   4 eggs, all hatched?

I looked at the Family history tree and in 2008, when Rhea Mae was 2, she had Lily, Belle and Unity.  How ironic is that!?  Belle is Unity's mother's name (the Unity at KP)!

Yeah and Lily hopped a bus out of town. Why fly, when she can ride.  clap

I remember that!  There was a cute pic of her on the bus too!

100 MILLION VIEWERS!!!  scared blue

That's because they've been advertised so very well-nationally and locally.  I tell my friends about watching our Peregrines and they ask me if I'm watching the Decorah Eagles!

Didn't they say it was probably because she is young? So with Beauty no I don't think we will have that problem (except with maybe Sophie since she was laid 8 days before the others) Now with Unity I don't know. How old is she? (I forget)

Unity is 2 yrs old BC. Don't forget, Beauty was 2 yrs old also last year when she laid her 1st clutch. Guess it depends on the female.

Beauty was born in 2007 making her 3 years old last year (2010) when she had her first clutch.  In 2009, after they attacked Mariah, Beauty and Archer were believed to have a scrape on Midtown but nothing came of that (she was 2 then). This is A and B's 3rd spring together-2nd clutch.

I'm also glad that it was not from poison but her passing was so sad.  Glad her little ones are being cared for.

I've said to some Forum members in the past that I also think that Archer was the tiercel at KP last year too.  "Both" tiercels migrated about the same day (according to sighting reports that I read) although some watchers think the KP male last year was bigger than Archer.  I guess only A knows for sure.

I know everyone has been very patient about waiting to hear if there are any eggs at Kodak Park.  The Watchers have been very busy trying confirm if there are any.  From the ground, through scopes and long lenses, we have witnessed behavour that suggests there is at least one egg in the scrape.  Dana and I thought we could see a bit of dark red in the scrape through the scope this past weekend, the color of a Peregrine egg.  But we couldn't be sure.

This afternoon, an employee spoke to Joyce.  He wanted to let us know that they were pretty sure that there are two eggs in the scrape!

We will continue to keep an eye on the situation at KP and report what we see and try to get & share more information.

I feel so bad for Beauty, who waited through a tough winter for him to come back to her, to be treated like this.  Very sad.   Sad

it seems to bother us more than it does Beauty....or Unity for that matter.

He's a stud muffin who wouldn't want his eyases

I don't think we can really ever know how Beauty feels about it but I think there was definitely something going on with her when there was 8 days between the 1st & 2nd eggs.  I believe that's the time A started visiting the KP female.

is Archer losing his distinguishing feather?

I posted on FB that it looked like it-just like last year.
