"Good luck, you splendid little punk," Chris wrote. Check out the great blog entry.

Love the pic and what a success fostering #5!  Kudos to Chris for a job well done!
6244  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Seneca Sighted at Brookpark Road Bridge with a Mate! on: 09-May-11, 09:52:46 PM
I just read the CMNH Forum post about this.  I'm so glad that Cheyenne will be OK and releasable but my greatest thought is about our Seneca.  I've always been hopeful that she's alright somewhere but to think that she was trapped and relocated without being identified is so sad.  If they had just written down a band number so we knew.  Sad

Forum report:
The three chicks will be raised at raptors station Berg am Irchel.

That is good news!

6249  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Question about females talking to their eggs on: 08-May-11, 05:45:08 PM
As Carly said, it is known to hear the eggs peeping & the adults responding once the eyas breaks through the air cell in the egg before hatching.  Hope we get to hear that this year!

We turned on the streaming video just before the first hatch last year. I'm pretty sure I heard peeping. The video was saved on Ustream for anyone who wants to look it up.

I heard it last year too, Shaky.

i agree- LP only strengths our dna--we are family--not only related
to mariah and kaver, but to beauty and archer as well, lets not lose
are sights on what is important

Of course Beauty and Archer and their young are very important.  That's a given.  The good thing is, if there are young at KP, the eggs will hatch much later than the eggs at Times Square.  That will really help when Fledge Watch begins.

My understanding is that no one can get very close to this building so how will you do a fledge watch?  Just asking.
6251  Other Nature Related Information / Falcon Web Cams / Re: 1st egg for Nijmegen on: 07-May-11, 07:28:24 PM
OH no, 1 egg left and both eyases died!!

2011: On March 19 at 3:30 pm, the first egg is laid, followed by another three eggs laid on respectively 22, 25 and March 27.
On April 28 we see the first Valkje young from hatching.
The next day, there are now two young visible. On May 1 the webcam images to see a young unfortunately is deceased. The next day, the second dies young Valkje. The cause of death is not entirely clear. The deceased boy by the female verwijderd.De remaining two eggs are very now and then incubated.
Presumably, the remaining eggs any more.  (google translate)  crying

This is so sad.  I wonder what happened to them?   Sad
