Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Ranger in Toronto

As far as we know, Ranger and Hunter have never had a successful hatch. There have been suspicions that one or the other is infertile. I would absolutely love to see her finally have a young one to raise. Her legacy is strong and important. She is the grandaughter of Victoria and Ponce-Kingsley from Toronto, daughter of Mariah and Cabot-Sirocco from Rochester. I knew she was a daughter of Mariah and C-S but wondered what her history has been since she left the nest. Has she always been in Toronto with Hunter? Where was their original nest site if this is a new place for them?

Just a quick update. Dana and I were at KP when the 3rd Peregrine flew in. We believe that it was LP that flew into the PPH and started sounding the Pefa alarm call. We then saw a Falcon above her on the blue bldg. We assumed it was Archer. The Tiercel took off heading around the west end of the blue bldg. That's when we saw #3 flying in from the north. It looked like two Tiercels and there was a chase, push & shove battle going on.
While LP continued to vocalize the two males continued to fly around the area. The 3rd did not want to give up, but eventually there was just two falcons in sight.
I truly hope that another Tiercel comes in to KP and that Archer returns full time to Beauty and the downtown nest location.
Watchers tonite included, Dana, Kathy O, Larry O, MAK, Susan and Carol P. The sun was shining most of the time, but it was very windy and cold.
We'll keep an eye on the situation.
Hope there's not going to be any battles where someone gets hurt.

Cheyenne update today:
Today's update on Cheyenne... Laura called after his visit to Dr. Lindstrom. He found a slight fracture of the corocoid (collar bone), which is usually not a difficult problem to heal, per Laura. However, he had a very high white blood cell count, which Laura said could be a possible sign of some poison in his system. He also had greenish defecation, which she said is an indication of a liver problem, so they're going to do a more specialized blood panel to determine more. He's on antibiotics now, and Laura said that the prognosis for releasability is good if he recovers from his sickness.
As for GG, we were there this morning and she appears to be giving up. She didn't incubate, but stayed around the nest site. She walked in to the nest cubby and began picking at one of the eggs. We couldn't tell if she broke the egg or if it had already been broken, but she began eating some of it. She then picked up the broken egg, and with yolk dripping out she carried it out of the nest to a tree. Since the egg had that much yolk in it and we didn't see a formed eyass (which there should be with only about a week to go until the hatch date) that egg wasn't any good anyway. This may have even been the egg that they inconsistently incubated for the first week or two.
The quail was still on the railing this morning. Kim-- in our experience, peregrines have not rejected quail in rehab., although they will sometimes refuse to eat when they first enter into a captive environment. Quail is actually considered very well accepted by peregrines. If we could have gotten it into one of their cache spots under the bridge, that probably would have been the best place to put it and there would have been a better chance of her taking it.

I voted.
We were supporting several Pepsi refresh challenge participants before the break. Did any of them return?
The Byron-Bergen School newsletter just came out telling about the excitement of winning the challenge and included a description of what the playground will be like when it's finished. They're presently recruiting people to help assemble the project and when it's finished, I'll see if I can get a pic of it to post on here. Also-"A Tricycle for Lexie"-we saw little Lexie & her mother coming into church on Easter and got to talk to her mom. She said that Lexie got her tricycle and is progressing very well with her leg strengthening since she received it-and she rides it every chance she gets! She said to say thank you to everyone for their votes!
