That's correct Kris. The KP falcon hasn't been seen in approximately a week. Archer hasn't been seen since Monday or Tuesday I believe. We were discussing it today and feel that they have left the area.  wave

Sad to say, but I thought so. You did report though that you saw Archer on the Jail CT on Thursday the 30th at 7:40 AM but no sightings were reported after that.   crying

I wonder if the male KP Falcon and Archer are in the group.  I don't think they've been seen by watchers in the last couple days.

After posting that I wanted these but didn't use Paypal, I looked and I own all of the ones that are being offered.  Will Lou, by any chance, be offering new ones like ones of our new Falcon family anytime soon?  (Hint-hint)

I think that if I were within arms reach of that sculpture.........
I would totally be tempted to stroke her head and offer her a chunk of quail.

Had a lovely boat ride on the Mary Jemison & saw many herons & an egret. I talked w/ the Captain afterwards & he didn't know about the falcons or that a eyas had been named Jemison after Mary Jemison . He was very interested & I gave him my favorite photo of Jemison on top of NB w/ wings spread - he was thrilled. So it was a great day & anytime I can tell someone about falcons is awesome  2thumbsup

That was awesome!!  thumbsup

We have all the other kinds of Woodpeckers in our backyard but I've never seen one of these around here-darn it!.  Sad

These guys can be sneaky.  I saw one once in my yard probably 15 years ago, but I hear them just about every weekend.  Very loud, hollow sounding, rapid knocking.  If I hadn't watched the one I did see I might not have figured out what the sound was.

We have a large wooded area with Black Creek running through it behind our property which probably has them in there but I've just never seen one.  I'll have to go down there and listen sometime to see if I can hear or maybe see any.  I would love to see one in my lifetime!

Great pics, Ei, and I loved seeing the Beaver ones!  We would frequently see them swimming across the lake where we had our summer home when I was growing up but haven't seen one in years.  Thanks for posting!

Update post insemination of Lun Lun:  panda

Wednesday, September 22
Well, Lun Lun is still sleeping a little more then her norm, but we haven’t seen any other signs of a birth window drawing closer.  Lun Lun may not be ready to show us if she has a cub or not, but we are taking steps to be ready either way. Currently we are training three seasonal keepers that will help cover all the shifts so we are prepared for night watch. You have already “met” Kris G. thru her previous updates. Soon, you will get to hear from Katie G. and Cate H. as they train in and learn what it takes to care for Zoo Atlanta’s panda family.

Lun Lun had her usual Friday ultrasound procedure this morning. Ultrasound procedures are currently conducted twice a week. There is nothing exciting to report from the procedure this morning. Lun Lun’s behavior and hormones have not changed significantly, yet, which means it’s still too early to expect to see a developing fetus on ultrasound. Doing ultrasound procedures during this time, provides good practice for Lun Lun and is important for documenting reproductive system changes. Lun Lun cooperated very well. So well, that she was willing to keep holding the position even after the vet team was done. Let’s hope she continues to be so cooperative in the coming weeks when she enters her nesting phase.
