I don't follow this site but happened to see this when I was looking for info on Warrior (there aren't any recent updates). Trooper, mate of recently deceased Scout, has a new female friend identified as Clementine. It didn't take him long! No recent sightings of Spirit, their lone fledgling.

TAIPEI, Taiwan (July 6) -- After giving birth to twins, a panda at the Beijing Zoo accidentally crushed one of them to death, a zoo official confirmed today.
The other panda baby, utterly ignored by its mother, Ying Hua, has been moved to a panda conservation center in Sichuan Province, where it will be cared for and raised.
The drama began Friday, when first-time mother Ying Hua bore twin female cubs, according to China Daily and other media reports.
YouTube Ying Hua the panda, shown at the Bejing Zoo in 2008, gave birth to twin cubs but accidentally crushed one of the newborns, a zoo official said.Ying Hua immediately began nursing the first cub she saw but paid no attention to the other.
"Mother pandas are always like that," zoo deputy president Zhang Jinguo told China Daily. "Twins are rare, and all mothers take only the first cub as their own."
As it turned out, the snubbed cub was luckier than its twin sister.
The 8-year-old Ying Hua doted on her favorite daughter like any excited new panda mom, licking her and responding immediately to her every cry for help, Taiwan's Central News Agency reported, citing a report from Beijing's Xinjing newspaper.
But less than 20 hours after the baby's birth, the mom's doting did her in.
Security camera footage showed Ying Hua, apparently responding to her cub's cry for milk, attempting to turn her body around in a tight corner of her pen around 4:45 a.m. As her head pressed up against the wall, the cub was crushed between her chin and chest, according to Zhang.
"Ying Hua was too nervous," said one unnamed zookeeper. "She didn't have any experience raising a child."
Since her daughter's death, "careless" Ying Hua has refused to eat or drink, keeps searching her enclosure fruitlessly and has clawed up the floor of the enclosure, creating an "unbearable" scene for the keepers, according to the Central News Agency.
"This kind of accident has happened at other zoos, but it's the first time at the Beijing Zoo," a keeper said.
On the bright side, Shangye Diantai reported that a panda couple at Hong Kong's Ocean Park, Le Le and Ying Ying, are expected to have a baby next year. "Protecting the panda baby will be a big challenge," the article said.
Baby pandas are born "pink, with almost no hair, and blind," and weigh 4 to 8 ounces on average, according to a fact sheet from Pandas International.
"If twins are born, usually only one survives in the wild," the fact sheet reads. "The mother will select the stronger of the cubs, and the weaker will die. It is thought that the mother cannot produce enough milk for two cubs since she does not store fat."
The current giant panda population is estimated at 1,600, with 200 bears in captivity, according to Pandas International.

I wish they could change the pool water as often, feels like bath water. Maybe a few bags of ICE.
If you can get a block of ice (5 - 10 lbs, maybe 25) it will help. Toss that bad boy it the water and watch it melt! Gee, do they still deliver them big blocks of ice? No Go to the ShopRite and the ice-machine (the larger stores will have the blocks). Marina always do for keeping the coolers and the fish cold. 98 out right now..pool 88 YIKES....give me a blizzard! Our pool water was 89 yesterday-had to turn solar panels off!

Quick Jemison update for today (7/5/10). I spoke to the rehabber this afternoon and was told that the XRays were put off until tomorrow (7/6/10. Nothing wrong with Jemison, it was just that the Vet was unable to do them today.
Gary told me that Jemison's wing was not drooping as badly as it had been when we first brought him in. He asked if I could come out for a quick visit to give my opinion. I said sure and asked if fellow Watcher Kathy O could accompany me. He said sure.
When Kathy and I arrived, we very briefly took a look at Jemison, who stared back at us intently. I definitely see improvement in the way the wing is positioned. The drooping of his right wing was very evident when we watched him on the north side of the Time Square bldg. This to me was a very positive sign (again my opinion only).
Jemison has been eating well on his own and drinking.
So, we have to wait for the results of the XRays tomorrow. I hope Jemison is ok and will be able to return to his family soon.
Carol P.
Sounds encouraging. Thanks for posting.

Not much more to add on Jemison's condition. Today was a day of rest for our young fledgling and quail, I believe, was on the menu. They want to stabilize him and make sure he's eating ok.
Rest well Jemison.
Do you know if they did xrays and have an idea of what type of injury it is?Kris - As far as I know, they were going to wait a couple days to let him rest and eat before doing the XRays. We're just so very lucky to have him in a place where a Vet is available to look after him, especially during the holiday weekend. Thanks, Carol. Rest is always the best thing for a patient!
