There is a pair of falcons in Buffalo that have just hatched 3 chics.   In a picture one adult is banned just wondering if there is a chance of them being  offspring of Karver and Mariah?

here is the link:  http://www.buffalo.edu/webcam/falconcam.html

They aren't related to Mariah and Kaver but if you want to read more about all the Buffalo Falcons, go to the Forum Home Page then to Raptor Webcams where you'll find the topic Buffalo Falcon News 2010.
7114  Other Nature Related Information / Raptor Web Cams / Banding of Norfolk Eaglets and one fitted with transmitter on: 06-May-10, 02:56:39 PM
All Three Eaglets Are Now Banded                                Posted by: rlukei | 2010/05/05

The three eaglets at Norfolk Botanical Garden were removed from their nest today by Dr Bryan Watts, Director of  The Center for Conservation Biology, with assistance from Tim Nuckols and Nate Jones from Nuckols Tree Care. The eaglets were placed in a duffle bag and lowered one at a time to Libby Mojica, Eagle Research Biologist. Once all three were on the ground, the two youngest had bands placed on both legs, a USGS numbered band on the right leg and a purple band on the left leg that identifies the eaglet as being from the Chesapeake Bay region. They were weighed and measurements taken to compare to norms for their age. Both the youngest and middle chick were identified as being of male gender.

The oldest eaglet had been banded (NC) on March 31st.  The weight and measurements for this eaglet were in between the norms for male and female, so for the time being its gender will be considered unknown. Libby Mojica then fitted NC, now named Camellia for tracking purposes, with a 70 gram satellite tracking  transmitter. Camellia now has her own web page at http://www.wildlifetracking.org/index.shtml?tag_id_74435.

Oldest – banded NC – #0679-01370 weighed 3705 grams (8+ lbs)

Middle – banded ND – #0679-01371 weighed 3260 grams (7 1/4 lbs)

Youngest – banded NE – #0679-01372 weighed 3368 grams (7 1/2 lbs)

Tonight, when the pigeon house, there are a large number of prey brought. Besides earthworms and beetles also mice. Good enough for the female to feed. The dove has been docked her four-night after leaving. I do not know exactly what the impact will be beneficial for the outcome but can not. For this reason, I expect that eventually the effect of the pigeon hole in the porch will be minimal. If the birds have eggs hatching is likely to end up like this guy owl food ...

I think the pigeons are gone!

I saw the pigeon in the box today so they're still around.

In fact, it's there right now.

Wonderful news, Anne, after such sadness.  Bill and I are also organ donors and the "Gift of Life" is something everyone should think about doing.

  Just for fun...Rhea Mae: 1st time mom..May 27, 2007

  2 little babies

  Tiago, keeping the egg warm

  Tiago & egg

I think that Rhea Mae was only a year old in 2007 and that she had her first babies in 2008.

I don't know how they're going to make it if the pigeon won't let the male in.  She's going to have to eat and the pigeon probably won't let her back in.  Very sad situation.   Cry
I vote for her to just eat the pigeon.  Wink

                    ditto

I did see her get out today and I see she's back.  The pigeon went ballistic but the Owl flew out through the hole real fast.  I do feel bad for them with both brooding eggs.  Very stressful for all parties and it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
