Thank you for making a topic for Aria . All is well here, quiet day for the falcons save for a Red Tail Lucky had a bit of a dance with. We will keep an eye out for them and hope this was just a one time thing and not a reconnaissance by the mystery female for a future attempt at moving in. I agree! Aria definitely needed her own topic! Glad things are so far, so good! Thanks for keeping an eye on them, Carly!

Change of plans. Couldn't connect to office from home so had to come in as reports are due this morning. Mom is going to the eye doctor on her own, she insisted she can do it.
Aria on swing stage arm and Lucky on cam when I arrived. Have lots of work and meetings this morning but will do my best to keep an eye out.
7.58 am and all is quiet. Both still in the same positions facing south.
9.00 am and still quiet. Aria on center ledge (one ledge over from the nest box ledge) eating and Lucky not in sight. Very cloudy out today and cold but no sign of 'big bird' yet.

I saw one, and sometimes two, of the juvies return to the nest again several times. I also saw both parents visit on occasion. I have not seen any of the birds for several weeks, so I believe that they may have migrated. However, this evening I found an unwelcome visitor at one of the two nests. The GHO was calling several times, so I think there may have been another GHO close by.

Latest Bailey update: "X-rays demonstrate that Bailey’s wing continues to slowly heal, but the rehabilitators think that at the rate of healing, she will require another 2-3 months of continued care. Keeping her in Maine’s climate for that length of time would not be in her best interest. So, transfer to another rehabilitation facility in the southeastern U.S. is likely. Here she would be in a climate where other ospreys winter and where she could hopefully be released when she has completely healed. Here is a recent photo that shows she is looking good- benefiting from a diet of Atlantic herring. The rehabilitators join me in sending their thanks to the 45 people that have donated a total of $2,285 to Audubon for Bailey. These funds have been sent to the rehabilitators. Additional funds were also sent to Friends of Hog Island for Bailey and these funds will also help meet her medical and rehabilitation expenses. Thanks to everyone for remembering Bailey and for all of the good wishes. My best, Steve Kress"Thank you so much for the update on Bailey, Kris! I hope that moving her to a warmer climate will work out well for her. She has had such a hard life. I just hope that her wing will heal completely, so that she will be releasable. She looks great in the photo you posted -- what a beautiful bird she is. I’m hoping for a release too and that they continue to update us, after she’s transferred.

Very sad news from this site. We lost the second little chick today. I noticed last night that while being fed, the chick appeared to be in some respiratory distress. He/she was able to eat, but with some difficulty. Today, the chick was no longer moving. As with the first chick, I think that the probable cause was either Trichomoniasis or a toxin of some kind. With both chicks, the situation worsened quickly. I have seen no comments from Melbourne on the loss of either chick. Do they have no concern for what has been happening at their own website? I’ve peeked in to see what’s going on, the past couple days, and baby seemed very lethargic..I wondered if something was wrong. Sad news. Fly free!
